Video: China opens the world’s longest cross-sea bridge
Kicking of May with a bang, China will open the world’s longest cross-sea bridge today linking Shanghai with the industrial city of Ningbo. The $1.7 billion bridge opened up to traffic on a trial basis at midnight and will be fully open to public following an inauguration ceremony Thursday afternoon.

Cutting the distance from Shanghai to Ningbo from 250 miles to just 50 miles, the 22-mile bridge is now the world’s longest sea-crossing structure.

Completion of the bridge took just 5-years.

I have to say false, at only 22miles, the pontchartrain bridge in LA has one of its two twin bridges at 23.8 miles. Longest in the world.

The Lake Pontchartrain Causeway, or the Causeway, consists of two parallel bridges that are the longest bridges in the world by total length.[2] These parallel bridges cross Lake Pontchartrain in southern Louisiana. The longer of the two bridges is 23.87 miles (38.42 km) long. The bridges are supported by over 9,000 concrete pilings. The two bridges feature bascule spans over the navigation channel 8 miles (13 km) south of the north shore. The southern terminus of the Causeway is in Metairie, Louisiana, a suburb of New Orleans. The northern terminus is at Mandeville, Louisiana.

It will fall down within five years due to bad engineering during some earthquake and then the government won't tell anyone about it.

If you wanna see a HUGE project, watch the video on history channel about the Three Gorges Dam. It is visible from space, and has moved villages and changes ways of life for millions of chinese. They have moved people to these concrete slab buildings that look like nothing, but the people have phones, TV, and running water now. Very touching show.

I saw that video, it was really good. The scientists are really worried about the amount of potential energy that will be stored once the man-made lake is full. But this is clean energy, and a vital benefit to their region.

Although most wars are waged for profit or resources, I hadn’t thought about dumping the old technology idea. Interesting though.

Kind of curious to know who actually cares. A well placed airplane will knock it down.

Wonder if China used Chinese steel or if that crap is strictly for export to stupid corporate America?
