Video: Pagani Zonda F goes around the Nurburgring in 7:27.82
A while ago we posted a story on the Pagani Zonda F becoming the new king of Nurburgring. The amazing light and fast Pagani Zonda F Clubsport has taken the title from the Porsche Carrera GT as the fastest production car to lap the Nurburgring. Coming in at 7:27:82 the Pagani Zonda F beat the Carrera GT’s time of 7:28.
Now here is a video showing you the Pagani Zonda F lapping the Nurburgring.
This Pagani is powered by a 7.3 liter V12 engine producing an outstanding 641 horsepower.

Out of curiosity...whats the qualification to be considered a 'production' car.
Do 100 cars have to be built or is considered a production car after 2?
This is not a slam against Pagani at all I'm just curious about how many examples of a car need to be created before that car is considered a 'production' car not a "one off" or "limited production" vehicle. I know Porsche produced over 1200 GT's. How many Pagani Zonda F Clubsports exist? I hear their only making 25 and only one exists right now. If thats correct is it really valid to call it a "production" car?

25 is FIA's definition of a production car. The FIA's definition of a production car is 25, in order for a car to qualify and be homologated into races.

I get deboosted for asking a question?
Seems kinda wrong dosent it. I didn't even take a position. Sorta like saying "is the sky blue" and getting deboosted.
Seems some kid decided to go down the line and deboost everyone who responded to my question.
Way to go champ.
To those who did respond...thanks that clears it up a bit.

I believe it's 25. Don't quote me on it but I remember reading that in order for the CLK-GTR to compete as a production car they had to make 25 of them.

So it beat the Porsche by .18 of a second. The Pagini has 641 HP from a 7.3 V12 and Porsche has 604 HP from a 5.7 V10.Being that the V12 is turbocharged it must have gobs more torque then the Porsche which I believe has 484LBS at probably 5000 RPM.What that tells me is that the Pagini made it up on the straights, not in the turns. If you which the video you notice that just before the last few turns at the start finish is a rather long straight. HP would definately be an advantage there.

The Pagani is not turbocharged. It has an NA power plant. I think the Pagani is actually heavier (if only slightly) than the Porsche and also has higher drag. I would be willing to bet the two cars match up pretty well in the straights and the corners. Pagani has more power but higher weight and better down force.

actually, Pagani is about 100-120kg heavier than a carrera GT.

Doing a quick search revealed curb weights:
CGT: 3043lbs
Cayman: 2867lbs
Zonda F: 2850lbs
Saleen S7TT: 2750lbs
Enzo: 3009lbs
SLR: too fat... might break screen to print.
Seems the Zonda was lighter than I thought

Love this car and the exhaust note rivals Ferrari. Keep in mind that the 641 horses only have to push about 2850 lbs. I think the design for some is kind of like an acquired taste, but to me its beautiful inside and out.

All of these numbers are meaningless in the real world because it's against the law to drive that fast :)

Unlikely, the v-spec is tipped to have 540bhp. The standard GTR weighs 3800 lbs and the v-spec is tipped to shave about 500lbs off that, so it will still be a good bit heavier too.

Idiotic Lexus fanboy has to appear and talk about the Godly Nissan GT-R in a Pagani Zonda thread.
Nobody shopping for a Zonda will even consider the GT-R and vice versa.

Most Nissan buyers probably don't even know what a Pagani is. (exaggeration, but you get my point-its two different leagues)

Yeah, no one in this market really cares what time the Nissan gets, people looking at buying a Zonda or its competition WON'T EVER look at a Nissan.

I was under the impression that a Donkervoort set the production car record at 7:18-ish, just to be broken by a Radical SR8 going 6:55? They are both production street-legal cars...

I wonder how many Donkervoorts have been produced?
Porsche produced over 1200 CGT's.Getting back to my point. The Pagini is 200 LBS lighter and has 35 extra HP and yet was only .18 seconds quicker then the Porsche.Because of that very long straightaway before the final turns I think that is where the Pagini might have made up the better time.I'm going out on a limb by saying the Porsche might still be the better handler in the corners at the ring.Of course you would have to watch the videos side by side to see but lighter weight and extra power can make a difference.

never the less, its production = more than 25. Don't get me wrong, the cgt is one of my favorite cars, especially since I went down to Rennsport in Daytona, and as a porsche owner.

But then again, Pagani is a small italian company while Porsche is a gigantic company in comparison.
