Video: Porsche’s PDK Gearbox, how it works

I'm sold! This is the antithesis of the dreaded CVT for those (like me) who prefer to drive an automatic or this new PDK transmission in automatic mode).

It appears to be shared technology between Porsche and ZF. Although the internal designation that ZF has for it is 7DT 50.

Does it every occur to anyone how expensive a gearbox like this would be without mass production?

That's the problem we have with EVs right now. It is a chicken and egg problem. We need cheaper batteries in order for people to buy EVs. We need people to buy EVs so we can ramp up battery production and make batteries cheaper.
