Of course, this is a beautiful design.
BUT, the big question is: what will it cost?
I would consider buying this car for my wife who has a 5 yr old Acura RL, but it will compete with our needs with the forthcoming Hyundai Genesis V6 sedan and that will be serious competition.
Genesis Pros: Lower costs (V6 is their base model, V6 is VW's top of the line).
Better handling with RWD, I probably would only get FWD on the VW; I have no need for AWD.
Maybe better reliability for the Genesis, at least the 2nd year on.
VW Pros: German fit and finish and ergonomics. German handling (even though I would get the FWD version).
Any comments?

Go with the Genesis if you want true value.

"Genesis Pros: Lower costs (V6 is their base model, V6 is VW's top of the line)."

Actually, the mid-level Genesis with the 290hp V6 is still slower than VW's 300hp unit. Those should be compared, not the base Genesis.

As for style? The Genesis is more conservative, if you like that, but the Passat CC is far sexier and pushes the envelope for "family car" design. Get the Passat if you want something with personality, but the Genesis if you want a car that just does what it's supposed to.
