While Toyota became #1 by selling its own cars, VW decides to become #1 by claiming sales numbers of other manufacuturers' cars its own. Good job.

I think the best option for them would be something outside of the conventional automobile. Say, MAN plus a motorcycle company. If they buy up MAN they can finally make the big truck company they wanted with their own truck brand and Scania. And they need a motorcycle company as well. I've always wondered why they haven't resurrected the NSU brand for motorcycles.

What's next, you ask? A fall...that's what usually follows über-ambition. Remember the last super car manufacturer? It dropped three of its brands this year and is now looking quite healthy. VW beware.

The good part about VW is that they don't have many overlapping brands. Bugatti is super high end, Lamborghini is a high end sports car, Bentley is high end luxury, Audi is the Luxury Brand, VW itself is the Toyota and Honda competitor, and Porsche is their sports car brand now.

The only over lapping they have is with Seat and Skoda but they are doing well in different markets so that's fine and with Skania and VWCV, but those two are set to become one company anyways once MAN is bought up by VW.

As long as they don't go GM's way by owning many brands of the same market range they should be fine.

HMMM, a wonder would they effect the motorcyle aspect of Suzuki? A better Hayabusa, a Better GXR-1000?
