Volkswagen recalls 27,000 cars
Wolfsburg, Germany - Carmaker Volkswagen has recalled more than 27,000 cars because a defective electrical connection could become hot and cause a fire, the Germany company said Thursday.
The recalled cars are diesel Volkswagen Jetta compact sedans and diesel station wagon versions of the Volkswagen Golf made between January 8, 2007 and January 9, 2008.
A spokesman said an earth connection in the car heater had not been made properly. Garages are to repair the part free of charge

They really need to hire a new 'electrition'...seriously, Audi's too. It's their one downfall.

Who said anything about Toyota?
Comments like that show how immature you are, we are discussing a real problem with an automaker and you scream out "Toyota did it too!"

LOL M35MT! what else did you expect from him!? When there's news of a Toyota recall posted here there's no one posting recalls about Volks.

their (VWs) electronics are fragile, and are hard to work on.

The point on this article is that VW/Audi and most other Germans have consecutively had issues with their electrical systems. Be it small or large they have occurred because all of the German companies get their components from the same warehouses in China to save costs on these items. The Japanese use their own electronics, hence the more modern and higher reliability of the advancements they put in their cars.
I'm not playing Jap fan boy or German hater btw, simply stating that it is a known fact that the Japanese cars (yes Honda and Toyota) have a higher reliability with electronics than do the Germans. You can claim that this is because Germans focus more on the driving aspect of vehicles than the amenities. And this may be true, given that the last generation Passat and Jetta had pop out cup holders that blocked your use and view of the stereo head unit.

Actually the Japanese use a few electronics from American companies....and American suppliers for the cars they build in the US. I think it is ridiculous sometimes how everyone gripes about a recall and all, cars today in general are way better than ever before.

Don't lump Audi into this one. First of all these are VWs built in Mexico and I believe that the quality processes the VW utilizes in Mexico are lacking. I think VW suffers in the US because the majority of these vehicles are coming from the Puebla plant.
