The United States will, by September of 2009, become the recipient of the VW’s sixth-generation Golf (Rabbit) and the more performance centered GT, with manufacturing set to begin for the American-spec cars during the later part of June.



The latest Golf is anticipated to cost a little more than the retiring model, with a $250 increase in price scheduled to apply to the base level Golf and GTI variants. The enhancements consist of a fresh engine lineup and amplified availability of DSG dual-clutch transmission technologies, which can reduce fuel consumption by up to 28% in some versions.

It's supposed to be in limited high end form. The Scirocco is a swan compared to the Ugly Duckling GTI.

Why wait that long? Practically every car, truck, SUV from every make operating in the US is currently or is about to sell below invoice plus 0% financing. Americans with great credit and a strong reliable income source who survived this economic mess has either already taken advantage of these great deals and bought the vehicles they've always wanted or is saving their good credits to get loans to buy up all these foreclosure homes at great discounts. Those americans who are upside down will still be upside down next year. Those with crappy credits will still have crappy credits next year, they won't be in any position to finance anything anytime soon. This car better come with some major cashback and great finance deals or it'll be collecting dust at dealer lots.
