It is reported that Volkswagen will be bringing in two Scirocco cars with groundbreaking natural gas powerplant at the 24-Hour Race this coming May 23 and 24 at the Nurburgring.

After the carmaker came out victorious at the Dakar Rally last January, which it won as the first carmaker utilizing diesel technology in the race, and now the carmaker is taking on another technical challenge: the employment of EcoFuel powerplants in a 24-hour endurance test in the most demanding race tack in the world. The twin Scirocco GT24-CNG comes with 2.0 liter powerplants energized by natural gas to deliver almost 300hp. Besides these, the team will also bring in three more Scirocco GT24 units that will come with 2.0 liter turbo gasoline units in the classic endurance race called the “Green Hell” to be held in Western Germany in the Eifel region.
