Wooden Boat Deck? You don't sail much I assume. That would be Teak. A fairly expensive wood that is not cheap considering the world supply is low at the moment. I used to sail/race/cruise/crew on a Nautor's Swan 46 "Dakota". We won the 1999 Marion Bermuda Ocean Yacht Race first overall and first in class.

We redid the decks that winter at Pilot's Point in Westbrook, CT. Teak decks to be exact that ran the bill in the $60,000 price range. Now that is expensive wooden boat decking as you call it.

Odd design, especially considering Volvo is a little more synonymous with yachting than VW. I know Porsche has a speedboat out, but if you look at Volvo's history with sailing, you will see what I mean. The Volvo Ocean Race and the special edition blue they came out with for the XC90, etc.

Why is everyone here such a hater? Teak = wood, no need to murder each other over such insignificance. You pay 60k for wood? Your problem, don't make people feel ignorant in your quest to tell about your wood budget.

Back to the CARS for a moment...good for VW for trying something new. albeit odd and not practical.

nono...it's very practical.

Girls always complain that stargazing on the cars were never as comfortable and romantic as the classy teen movies made it look.

This is pretty clever nevertheless.

It was not to criticize, it was to clarify and inform. I never called him a jerk for not knowing nor did I assume he was a moron. I simply gave additional information to the comment.

If you took it as being offensive to the poster, then that's your problem. I also never stated that I was the owner of the boat. I'm 27 for christmas sake, I for sure do not own a $250,000 boat. And what would you have him cover the top in? plywood?

Again the picture prominently shows the top of the car with a marine wood, I simply clarified and updated what type.

And back to CARS is just as immature a comment. The car is based off a damn boating theme therefore making remarks about boating is completely legitimate.

You want dumb comments, here is one just to put myself on your level for a moment. Get off your computer, leave your hotel, head to the DNC (Democratic National Convention) and go watch your anointed one on his greek podium.

ooo burn... thanks for that, I'm not for obama for sure, and not really for mccain but will have to go along with it. If you have to know I'm a ron paul supporter and I do know a thing about teak, and other quality woods.

Well we are on the same page at the moment, except for Ron Paul. I am not on either side, but for the moment I am voting McCain (not to drag politics in on this).

P.S. - very glad that your not an Obama-ite. I'd ask where the toga was for tonight LOL.
