like japan or korean its first introduction of car has its problem, chery auto is only 10 years old, eventually it will get better. chery spend big chunk of their resource into R&D, and has hired consultant from other big car company such as mitsubishi, Faiti, chrysler, etc. suffice to say they try to significantly increase the quality of their car. http://cn.autoblog.com/photos/chery-a6cc-coupe-concept/

Why do you reinvent the wheel. Why not buy the safety technology (air bags etc) from Toyota.

I'm sorry, that was almost comical. I didn't know whether I was watching a cartoon or a real car.

And they want to sell cars in the US? To whom, people who are trying to commit suicide?

It would be interesting to get the test speed before throwing too many rocks. If the test was performed at the same or similar speeds as the ones we see here in the states with IIHS, than this is surely evidence that the Chinese have a long way to go.

If however the speed in the test is more like 50 or 60 mph, then one might fine that many of our "safe" cars would not fare much better.

It was tested in Russia by Autoreview magazine. Test was carried out to EuroNCAP regulations.

Apparently the test was done at 64 km/h (39.7 MPH)- and it failed miserably. The title of the below synopsis of their testing is basically "The Trash"

autoreview.ru/archive /2007 /11 /crash_amulet

It states that all was basically well until 66 ms when the wheel arches deformed at which time the frames for the doors also began to deform. The steering column also deformed.

According to this article the driver DIED- peak decceleration of 165 g with a temple force that was "extremely dangerous"

Incidentally, the article states that 60% of these sold in Russia do not have airbags.

It looks like this car is based on the 1991-98 Seat Toldeo, which in turn uses some 1984-91 VW Golf parts.

Chinese goods are horrible.
Quality control needs to be improved
To think that children are exposed to lead paint from the chinese just scares me.

At least when a Chery hits a bicyclist, the bicyclist will probably live although if it hits the classic Flying Pigeon bicycle, the Chery will be a total loss. LOL. Reefcreature.
