When it comes to athletes known for dropping outrageous sums of money on outrageous supercars, the usual names are Floyd Mayweather or Yoenis Cespedes. Which is why it’s a little shocking that Hector Olivera, a Major League Baseball outfielder who is currently a free agent after being released by the San Diego Padres months after an arrest for assault and battery, just shelled out $3.5 million for a Lykan HyperSport.

The 31-year-old Cuban-born Olivera was originally signed to the Los Angeles Dodgers with a $62.5 million contract, but his underwhelming performance led to his being bounced to the Atlanta Braves, who also declined to re-sign him. Without a team, it seems Olivera will have plenty of time to drive his new Lykan.
