What Was The Most Disappointing New Vehicle Shown At The Paris Motor Show?
Even though a lot of experts were saying the Paris Motor Show would be a disappointment this year, I found it to be a pretty darn good show with some really cool models being shown.

Lamborghini's Estoque was the show stealer but all in all there were a lot of nice products scattered around the show.

But this article is focused on picking the most disappointing rides in Paris...

2008 Paris Motor Show Photo Gallery

Even though we were guests of BMW and this won't be politically correct, my vote goes to the the BMW X1.

I've never been a fan of the design of the X3 so more of the same on the X1 just wasn't doing it for me.

My problem is that it does not look masculine like the X5 and have a very menacing stance.

I looks too friendly and happy, more Subaru-like than ultimate driving machine.

That said, the X3 sells well in Europe so I guess if it's not broke, don't fix it.

But that doesn't give me comfort and won't make me like it any more.

Tell us what your choice is for the 'Most disappointing' vehicle at the show.

Enjoy!

yeah, that one too.

i know many here liked it, i just thought it needed a slightly more grown-up design. but i guess anyone who would buy it isn't very grown up in the first place, so maybe i missed the point.

i guess i'm autospies official "turd in the punch bowl"

X1 - I admit it's just me, but I don't get the point of a small SUV. Not (that much if at all) more space with a higher center of gravity. Might as well get a sedan/wagon. If I were to buy an SUV, it would be because I need more room.

There wasn't much that I had high hopes for that let me down.

The X1 will look good in black and silver. I do think that new Mini is horrendous though.

i think the X1 will be attractive in black/dark blue, etc... pretty much any color but what they debuted it in.

The estoque doesnt do it for me, if lexus had made that we would all think its horrendous, but because it has a raging bull on it, its gorgeous. give me a rapide any day over that.

Agreed, it doesn't have that cool aggressive, masculine look that the X5 has. It's a huge bummer. but they are probably targeting it more towards rich little daddy's girls who's parents want something fuel efficient and safe, parents seem to associate SUV with safe for some reason.

I still can't believe BMW showed that car in piss yellow.

I don't think it looks much like the X3 at all, aside from the kidney grille, and it is an attractive, production-ready design. A bit feminine, yes, but that's where the market is right now. You think the XC60, EX35, LR2 and Q5 are very masculine and aggressive-looking cars? The only one that looks rugged is the GLK but it's not well-done at all.

X1 and Estoque.
X1 is pointless, but then many others are, but it should have atleast looked good. it's very ugly especially rear.

Estoque, as it's a lambo, much higher hopes, but the result what looked like an over done and confusing design, too many lines...etc. Much simpler and beautiful rapide for me.

I actually think the design is flowing and consistent. It could be a real success if it hits a lower price point and gets good gas mileage like many BMWs already have. It seems to provide a lot of storage area in the back. I don't think they were looking to aim this at the sports driver, and more at the family driver.

Also, who's that pretty girl ?

Okay I showed the pics of the X1 on the computer to my wife and she really liked it -- wants one for the next car. She liked the color also. She didn't like the one that has the tapered back end (x6 ?) since it limits storage (of what?). I think BMW has scored big here.

So the worst car of the show would be that convertible Lexus coupe. I don't have a problem with the design, but it seems just like a high end Solara. I know it will be a high quality car, but it's already available. The Solara is a real nice car and a lot of attractive women drive it around town, so I have no real problems - just sayin'.

That X1 not only wins in the ugly department, it also wins in the ugliest color department.

No, that award goes to the Lexus IS250 conv... Somebody should have buried that aborted Volvo C70 aka Lexus IS250 conv.

amazin - the word is plebeian not "plebian". how did you manage to bypass elementary school where they taught you how to use a dictionary and make it to wharton?

oh i get it, all the intellectually challanged people (such as yourself) make money while the smart people are poor. NO!

X1 looks like a rebadged Hyundai design from a couple years back.

the one thing about these new bmws that makes me disappointed... they dont make me desire them. i dont want to own one of these even though i am a bmw fan.

bmw needs more sports cars, especially ones with a hybrid option.

In order of disappointment: Toyota IQ, Nissan NUVU and the redesigned exterior of the FX. Interior is wonderful. Obviously, the Mini showed the way for small car design, and Alfa's mini is nice. Small cars don't need to be bugged eyed and dumpy.

The X3 looks disappointing...the looks are self-explanatory. The color is dreadful...BMW to me defines class, luxury and performance. Just by looking at this X3 is just looking at a KIA.
