What's hotter? 2008 BMW M3 or Mercedes C63 AMG
Finally, the 2008 BMW M3’s rival has broken cover. Shown earlier last week, the Mercedes C63 AMG was unveiled ahead of its Frankfurt debut, mostly to distract the attention of the auto enthusiast world that is focused on the launch of the new 2008 BMW M3 in Europe.

Mercedes has always offered more power than the M3. The previous-generation C-Class AMG produced a total of 376 horsepower. The previous-generation BMW M3, on the other hand, developed 333 horsepower. Still the Mercedes C-Class AMG never received much attention due to its boring and dead design. Well now things are about to heat up.

Mercedes is back with its all new and beautifully designed 2008 Mercedes C63 AMG powered by a 6.3 liter V8 engine that produces 451 horsepower with a torque of 443 lb-ft. The car has the ability to do 0-62mph in 4.5 seconds with a top speed of 155mph. The design is just brilliant.

BMW, yet again, offers less power with its 2008 BMW M3’s 4.0 liter V8 engine producing 420 horsepower. The car has a 0-60mph time of 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph. However, we doubt Mercedes will be able to offer the same agile handling as the BMW M3. It is, after all, the ultimate driving machine.

We’re just wondering what you think is hotter? Click through to vote...

The real answer is that styling is subjective.

I find both very attractive. Far better looking than that goofy looking IS-F. Now that car is a joke in terms of styling...

I think they're both awesome and they've very different. If I needed a sedan, didn't want a stick, or liked to be able to just mash the throttle and smile, the C would be tops on my list. If I wanted a coupe (or sedan shortly), a stick, or a car more involving in its demeanor and power delivery I'd look at the M3. Or RS4 or RS5. BMW obviously toned down the edginess of the new M3 so it would appeal to more people, and MB obviously made theirs more so than before for the same reason. Both great cars, I'm sure.

You believe they "toned it down to appeal to more people"? I can't disagree more - in NY you can see and M3 every single day if you pay attention (sometimes several a day). I've driven an M3 and other than the Porsche Boxster it was the best steering car I've driven - but somehow to me it's lost it's novelty and it's edge - not to mention it didn't overwhelm the 3 year old RS4 or it's own little sibling the 335.

Both cars are lame. I'll take the MB, because unlike the M3, the MB isn't pretending to be something it isn't.

Both cars are luxury drag-racers. They are both too heavy to be anything else.

From what I'm reading the 2 are now a lot closer in driving dynamics then before. The BMW has been made slightly softer and quieter while the Mercedes has now taughter and sharper handling.Of course until there is a direct road test comparison we won't really know. Of course, however you have to throw in the RS4 or perhaps wait for the S5R. It will be interesting to read. It does appear that the M3's reign as the ultimate driving machine is about to end.

Its hard to distinguish between the two, but based on the pictures the Mercedes is hotter. I also think the Merc. will have much stronger acceleration, which, on the streets, is what's important, most of the time. Which of the two is quicker on a racetrack is somewhat irrelevent in the real world. In other words, its hard to gauge a couple of feet difference in stopping distance or .85 to .87 skidpad rating when your street racing.

The MB is more special, it looks powerful but not stupid. It's also having more hp, supposed to have excellent handling.
The M3 looks like a plain 335i. Not ugly, but nothing special. You have to put more than 4 muffles in the back, BMW!

I will take the C63 AMG as a winner here.

BMW M3 looks better, the C63 is close. there is a big gap between the BMW/ Mercedes vs. the audi RS4 and some lexus product. Most customers in the US that go into the BMW or Mercedes showroom are not even think about an Audi. and the lexus 430 sc is a soft car for soft people.

style wise, both are great looking cars. it's a toss up.

in terms of sheer power and straight line acceleration, the AMG will win as usual.

i'd bet that in terms of handling and weight distribution, the M will win as usual.

I think the article is not accurate when it state this new BMW M3 will do 0-60 in 4.8 seconds. The last generation BMW M3 does that and it only has 333 hp.
This new BMW M3 has almost an extra 100 hp so it will do 0-60 in around 4.3-4.5 seconds for sure.

Well, I'm finally back to this website.
And I can see that nothing has changed.
Same old flamewars.
I love it.

The C class looks more luxury than sport,
and they both cater to different tastes.
However, unless the C-Klass was in coupe form, or the M3 in sedan you cannot compare the two.
Apples and Oranges.

You simply cannot compare 4-door saloon and a 2-door coupe. I say we should wait until 4-door M3 comes out and then let the flamewar begin.

When M3 sedan comes out it will for sure kill C63 in terms of styling and handling.
I'm not even mentioning IS-F, game was over long before M3 made a debut.

If the M3 doesnt have a sharp steering as its procedure doesnt mean it doesnt handle well. Its been the trend everytime a new M3 comes out.

The BMW M3 is in some way better than the Mercedes-Benz C63 especially when it comes to handling and overall performance, The M3 dominates the C63 anytime! The C63 looks really elegant and luxurious and unlike the M3 that looks agressive and sporty! In my opinion I'd prefer the M3!
