What the? Lagonda Concept is based on a Mercedes GL

The C-pillar of that car is a chunky, messy, unrefined disaster. Of course, why drag the C-pillar into it?

The ML looks pretty nice in certain POVs; the GLK looks great in terms of "design attempt"; and the GL simply looks like a huge beluga whale that is literally the size of an Escalade, and when you sit inside it, staring at its chunky and dull interior (in most areas), it's not only small but also cramped looking.

I agree that this Lagonda Concept looks like the FX, esp. its grille and overall form, but Aston Martin was never a design "definer" or a revolutionary starter like Chris Bangle; however, AM manages to make its cars pleasant looking, and considering that the GL is based on the ML, making it handle like a smaller car, this Lagonda vehicle should also be pleasant to drive.

In other words, I DO want! :D

Not a single design element of this... THING indicates any association whatsoever a single Aston Martin - past or present.

The use of the Aston Martin Lagonda moniker on a vehicle this ungainly (and unnecessary) is surely a step in the wrong direction for a company renowned for its flowing, graceful, and purposeful designs.

I'm tremendously disappointed with this effort... On Every Level.

I'm stating the obvious, but aesthetics are really personal, aren't they? Lacman (and this is not a criticism, just an observation) likes this car, while most of the reaction I've seen (such as at Carspin.net) has been overwhelmingly negative. So to answer your question, Lacman, I wouldn't agree at all that this is a nice modern interpretation of a Lagonda. Not only do I think it's unbelievably bad looking, I see no connection to any Aston or Lagonda. I can't say I know the full Lagonda history, I believe it was an independent company which was bought by Aston Martin at some point. Aston used the name on a few models, usually 4 door sedans.

As for the lunacy on this forum, it's nice when you can sift through the junk and find the thoughtful, insightful comments, even if you don't agree. Watch, I'll get deboosted now.

This car doesnt look good enough to be an Aston Martin, and it looks no more upscale than a typical suv.
