What will the next generation Audi A8 have on the inside?
Audi is so far ahead in interior design when compared to the competition, that the current generation A8 which was released in 2002 has a better interior than the completely redesigned brand new S-class which came out in 2007 and even the BMW 7-series with its horribly dysfunctional i-Drive.

Even Lexus which has been known for their quality interiors fails to set the standard in terms of fit & finish, layout, ergonomics and feel when compared to Audi.

What would you like to see Audi do in the next generation A8 that comes out in 2009 or 2010.

I expect the following:

1. A head-up display that is similar to BMW's but better

2. THE SAME MMI system because it is still more intuitive than Mercedes' COMAND or i-Drive from BMW

3. Nightvision w/ heat sensors

4. Increased legroom to surpass the 7-series

8. Heated, air-conditioned and massaging REAR seats

9. Back-up camera

10. MORE wood (I don't know if that can be possible)

Good interiors is not enough! What about the rest of the car! How about RWD?

I'll tell you what the A8 will have on the inside - a smug idiot - in the form of a driver!

As soon as this comes out BMW and Merc will come out with something to surpass it....just like the current A8,S550, and 750

and then right after BMW & Mercedes come out with their new systems Audi will improve upon it.

Just like i-Drive came out and Audi launched the easier and more intuitive MMI.

This is the 5th time youve said this incorrect data.

The current Audi A8 was released in 2004........not 2002.........as youve stated a million times before.

Get your facts straight before you post this jargon.

The A8 interior is only 3 years old.

My personal opinion: I would ansolutely take a S550 interior over an Audi A8's anyday.

I would expect a CD changer to be integrated behind the dash, instead of in the glove box.

You know its kind of wierd why these German luxury cars don't have in dash cd changers, surely they must be able to put it in.

The 2007 A8/S8 has a back up camera already. The best one available on the market as well.

commonsense, actually, the technology was tested by VW in the late 1980s on their buses, so if you want to talk about backup cameras, its VW who played with it first... Anyways, guided missiles would be awesome...

music store would be cool. like a detachable hard drive that you could plug into your comp and download your music onto it.

a foot bath

scenters for the car (like linen/sea breeze smell on hot days, cinnamon on cold days)

a panoramic glass roof (does audi have that already or not?)

a chiller cabinet in the front seat back pocket, with a mini-cocktail bar

touch screen sat nav, it's way easier than dials and buttons

a hybrid diesel

a system like mercs airscark, but one to dry your hair and clothes

oh an a trim level involving white leather and black wood

imagine squeezing all that into one car

a genie would be good, how about an oil lamp and persian carpets too? and a minaret on the roof :P

Although i love audis, i have to say the A8 compares most directly to the Lexus LS. Isnt the A8 $20,000 less than the S550 and the 7 series? But the A8's interior is definitely better than the S, 7 , and LS. I would take a S550 over an A8. But would take an A8 over the 7 and the LS. The LS just sucks.

Chip, the A8 was released in the States in June 2003 as a 2004 model and in late 2002 in the European market.

Wrong. The current A8 was a 2004 model in Europe as well and wasnt released until mid 2003.

All 2002 and 2003 A8's were the previous gen. FACT.

Chip, we are both correct.
The A8 came here in June of 03 as a 2004 model.
It came out in fall 2002 in the European market.
