Who Makes the HOTTEST Entry Level Super Car - Ferrari F430 vs. Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4
Who makes the Hottest entry level Super Car.  The words entry level probably don't apply here, when one hears the words entry level cars like Kia and Hyundai come to mind but the fact is for both Ferrari and Lamborghini there are their entry level offerings.  Of course entry level in this case carries a lot of zeros to the left of the decimal point, but neither Ferrari or Lamborghini has a problem selling these cars.  The waiting list the goes along with the quest to purchase a Ferrari can be as long as several years with the possibility of your name being moved to a newer model.  Lamborghini is a little more accessible in terms of availability, however with the updated model expect a longer wait time.

The Gallardo is the new kid on the block with the new design and updated details along with LP560-4 added to its name, however the F430 certainly isn't looking dated either.

Both cars are phenomenal cars and I am sure you wouldn't go wrong choosing one over the other, but for fun lets say you could pick only one, which one would you choose.  Yeah, I know I am forcing you to choose one over the other with gas prices as high as they are and such, but these truly are recession proof rides, I promise you if you can afford one of these, you can afford the gas to go in it.

This is a debate I have had with my friends prior to bringing it to you, I am the lone man out choosing the Lamborghini over the Ferrari.  I always argue that I have seen more F430's on the road than I have the Gallardo, but the truth be told I just love the lines of the Lamborghini.  Proportionally it is awesome and really makes its presence known on the road.

Who do you think makes the Hottest Entry Level Supercar - Ferrari or Lamborghini?

Happy Fathers Day!

Who Makes the HOTTEST Entry Level Super Car - Ferrari F430 vs. Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4

It's funny how this thread is titled with "ENTRY LEVEL SUPERCAR".

A Porsche 911 Turbo could be classified as a super car and so can an Aston Martin despite it's main obligation as a luxury grand tourer.

Anything higher than an F430 but lower than an Enzo seems to be a grand tourer as well so to say entry level may not be correct.

Are we comparing pricing? performance? styling?

Well since I can't choose one because they all have their selling points here is my lowdown:

- Porsche 911 Turbo: Super car pricing, super car performance & handling, with a more conservative look.

- Ferrari F430: Super car looks & sounds, super car performance & handling, with a design that could only have come out of Italy.

- Lamborghini Gallardo: Super car looks & sounds, super car performance & handling, with a design that could only have come out of Italy.

- Aston Martin V8/DBS: Super car sounds, super car performance, with more luxury in mind than a less practical Ferrari or Lamborghini.

- Audi R8: Super car looks & sounds, super car performance, with a proper design.

I know this was only f430 vs gallardo but if you really want to say entry level there are a few that are cheaper in price but after you hit the price range of an R8 or 911 Turbo those numbers in some cases mean nothing anymore.

these cars you mentioned dont compete with each other the Audi was made to compete with the 911 not a lamborghini or ferrari.....the DBS much less a supercar and more a fast Grand tourer like the Sl65...and its the flagship of the line not the ENTRY LEVEL vehicle of the RANGE like the gallardo or the ferrari and the V8 is no where near in this class of car as AGAIN its desighned to compete with the 911. and the 911 turbo wouldnt be the car to compete directly with these 2 it would be the GT2..........as this wasnt a choice between 2 cars than list a bunch of unrelated cars with different missions that are fast.......between these 2 though, answering the question,, I would say the ferrari with its typical ferrari styled leather lined interior, and awesome sounds and looks that would be my choice

The Turbo is most definitely an entry level supercar that should be compared. It's very practical and offers performance similar to them. It sounds like you are basing this on price, BMWDRVR. The GT2 is not entry level, offer perforamnce much higher than these and is not meant for a daily driver like these. It's also a much less forgiving car. It's a track day car.

Porsche is up there whether you agree or not. Is the Carrera GT not a proper super car with proper sound, styling, and curb appeal?

If Porsche's were priced higher the perception of the brand would probably be different as well. It all boils down to the money. I do understand what you guys are trying to point out though.

In Europe Porsche, Ferrari, & Lamborghini can be put in one line. It's just in North American where everyone views things differently. It's a shame because Porsche is up there in my opinion. They do have heritage and only Porsche could have taken the risk and put the engine right on the rear and make it work. Only Porsche could have used a smaller engine and put some turbo's in them and still have it just as fast as the V8 and V10(depending on the driver).

Don't get me wrong I'm a fan of all of these brands but I'm just defending Porsche's name because I respect what they have done and how they've made the Porsche name such a successful business.

why dont you sell your s550, LS, and R8 and buy a real supercar? can you even afford one? the only good decision you made was buying the LS because it's the best luxury money can buy. it compares to a phantom, maybach and a bentley in all levels. superior quality and world class innovation.

I test drove a V8 Vantage and it shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as those others you spoke of. Very average performance, 'thin' sounding raspy engine, and disappointing interior trim fit & finish. I think the term "supercar" should be reserved for cars that do 0-62 in 3.5 or under. Eg would you really compare an Aston or R8 to a Koenigsegg?

thank you for proving my point that your post has no clout......first I didnt trash porsche as a brand or any of their cars but that was your defense.....the Carrera GT wasnt mentioned by you AND YES IT IS A SUPERCAR....the 911 turbo is not in the same league as the 200 grand ferrari and lamborghini....the GT2 is....the Gallardo and Ferrari are entry level for THEIR RESPECTIVE brands if your talking other brands to compete with cars that over 200 grand its not going to be the run of the mill car but in most cases the top model........so again what are you talking about....not to mention the 911 turbo is NOT AN ENTRY LEVEL PORSCHE....it is the 2nd most expensive Porsche in production other than the GT2 with only the GT3 and GT3 RS even coming close.....thats not entry level the carrera is an ENTRY LEVEL 911.....

Of course not. But we're talking about entry-level super car so that could really be any thing pretty much.

Perhaps I was wrong with the V8 Vantage but the DBS has the performance but the price isn't entry level. It's more of a luxury GT car but I would consider that as a super car.

If you compare it to a Pagani, Enzo, anything in that class of car obviously it's not comparable. Even the F430 and Gallardo aren't comparable to the Zonda or Enzo. It's a different price range entirely.

We all have good arguments here though. There are a lot of aspects we look at when we hear the word super car. Sound, styling, performance, curb appeal, heritage, so on and so forth.

lexurious: why are you on a constant mission to attack me? it seems that you are bashing me because I have three cars. Is it because you're envious? if you have some solid facts to bash me with then by all means but you're full of baseless information. Why don't you go buy a real car? I have two awesome luxury sedans and one awesome Audi super car. It's too bad you can't experience.

Of course there are a few that are cheaper, but lets face it you see a lot more 911's than you do Ferraris and Lamborghinis. The Aston and Audi both are on par with the 911 Turbo as well, but when I think of super car neither of those names come to mind for me.

None of the cars you mentioned are bad cars and I don't think there would be buyers remorse for them, however telling a person you have a Ferrari or Lamborghini versus an Audi or Porsche puts you in a different league as far as perception is concerned. Of course that is my opinion, and you are free to disagree.

In theory I could have put the Lexus LF-A on there as well. As I have stated in previous posts, I am sure both Ferrari and Lamborghini are losing sleep at night worried about the impending Lexus!!!

Wow, Agent 00J you bring the LF-A into this mess huh? Unfortunately that vehicle has no business in this discussion. These are 2 vehicles from brands with heritage of historic design, vehicles that have only been available to the ultra-privileged. It is not only a joy to drive them, but also delights those who see them. When I think Lexus I think ES or RX the 2 PRIMARY Lexus vehicles sold today. And when I think of those I think Blue Hair and Mall Terrain Vehicle (no offense to owners, both are good vehicles). Lexus in the same breath as Lambo & Ferrari. I am sure the guys in Italy stay up late, but they are not thinking about an impending Lexus, they have better things to do. Remember these guys put out supercars everyday (Muria, Murcielago, Daytona, F40, Enzo, etc.), not once in a generation. Come on, get off the drugs.

For me, I think the Lambo offers a bolder statement in terms of styling and is a choice that gets someone into more rarified air. The Ferrari is probably a better all around vehicle in terms of driving dynamics having so much F1 technology and influence integrated within. The problem with the Ferrari is that it feels like they are 'everywhere' in SoCal and the specialness is therefore diminished. When you see a Gallardo on the road it still stands out and the LP560-4 looks even crazier having significant styling ties to the Revention. AND, with the added incentive of having lusted after that Countach that adorned my bedroom wall as a kid, no question --- Choice Lambo.

THESCOOTER:

I still have a poster of a hot girl with a white Lambo Countach in my old bedroom in my parents house. I'd choose the Lambo, but both are fine cars indeed.

I think it boils down to style. The Gallardo is brash, sharp-edged, mean-looking and mean-sounding monster. The F430 is more rounded, refined, sweet-sounding, still pure Italian tenor. Why choose, enjoy both.

In other news, which cheap car is the coolest, Kia Amanti or Daewoo Leganza?

Here is why this is a dumb thread...

1. I could hardly consider either car to be an entry level Super Car. My vision of an entry level Super Car would be like the ZR1 Corvette, Spec V GT-R, etc. I would say anything that is too insane fast in the $75-100k price bracket is considered super car.

2. Honestly, they are both considered EXOTIC Super Cars. Now, I agree with whoever said a Halo car can be considered a super car. The Halo car is meant to disprove a brand's general persona to build an ultimate machine. Halo cars are however, often mistaken as flagships, so it gets confusing.

3. Ferrari and Lamborghini are 2 different buyers. Ferrari is old money, Lambo is new money. People that buy Ferrari's are true EXOTIC Enthusiasts looking for the touring super car. The people that get the Lambo get the bright Yellow, they want to be seen, they want to be flashy. The Lambo's jagged edges are meant to make it look like some sort of future car, where the Ferrari is a little more classy and round.

Both cars are amazing, but you really can't say which one is better than the other, unless you look at the numbers. People spending $150k+ on a car often don't look at the numbers, but rather the brand.

I stated right in the body of the article the nature of me calling either car an entry level car. There is a little bit of humor meant to be inferred by the reference, however if you were to walk into either dealer and ask for the cheapest car offered, the F430 and Gallardo is what you would be shown.

2. When its all said and done i could by a modest house with the money i saved not buying the lambo or ferrari.

Frankly, I have seen only a single Gallardo that I thought was tastefully done. It was a deep blue Spyder with a cream interior.

I think they both are a bit ostentatious, but the 430 is less-so and it probably has longer service intervals(I havn't checked that). I would have to say the F430 (although I would rather have a Scaglietti)

What he is referring to is the fact that conspicuous consumption is the ethos of the nouveau riche. There is nothing quite so conspicuous as a yellow Lamborghini. Thus, they have a tendency to be driven by parvenus.

I would pick the Lamborghini Gallardo for 5 simple reasons.

1. 552 hp > 483 hp. Or, V10 > V8. I drive a V10 M5 daily so NO a V8 just won't do anymore.
2. How many supercars do you know are equipped with a back-up camera? The Gallardo has more luxury features that are useful in everyday driving. Let’s be real, these cars put the “P” in poseur. And that’s all they’re gonna be used for 98.3% of the time.
3. Great Audi interior.
4. Audi reliability > Fiat reliability.
5. Lamborghini is AWD and comes with factory-recommended snow tires. So, in theory you’d still look good driving during those long, cold winter months while the Ferrari turns into a garage queen.

Oh and to answer the question. The LP560-4 is waaaaay faster than a standard F430, has better all around drivability, and the price tag is still probably less than the F430 due to Ferrari keeping supply lower than demand. However, this is to be expected as it's the new version. The Scuderia has more equal performance, but carries a $300K price tag and is far more raw in terms of what it is.

Walk into a Lamborghini dealer and you can walk away with one at MSRP after a short wait time. If you don't own several Ferraris already, don't even both trying. You'll get hit with a 30K markup.

That being said, I decided to get an R8 over both of these becuase these two cars are old. Their designs are aging and everybody and there brother has one. I'd hold off on buy either of these and just wait a year or two for the replacements.

Ferrari red for me. For those who have seen both in California, do they usually have front license plates? I know that it's required, and most don't care about the initial $50 - $150 fix it tickets. But I have to believe that every time you take the cars out, you will get a ticket for not having the front plates since the cops are looking at these cars knowing that they don't care about paying the fines. But keep getting the tickets will increase the increments of the fines. Is there a maximum fine or does it double every time you get a ticket?

Here in Colorado, the ticket is $18 bucks. I keep mine off and get a ticket about once a year. But It may have saved me twice at the red light cameras (the only real reason why front license plates are required) so I say that $18 investment has paid for itself many times over.

However, if I lived somewhere warm I wouldn't be so sure. I'm a major Ferrari lover who hasn't taken the plunge and actually bought one yet.
