Who Will Win The World Car And Performance Car of the Year Awards for 2008
Who will win the World Car and Performance Car of the Year award for 2008?

In 2005 the Audi A6 took first place World Car Honors followed in 2006 by the BMW 3 Series. In 2007 the LS460 reigned supreme.

While we still have a while to go before the candidates of the Green Car of the Year, and World Design of the Year are announced, we certainly can make our choices just like the top journalists do for the World Car and Performance Car of the year for 2008.

Take a look at the candidates and make your choices:

Just like the oscars. If the car was released after the deadline then it rolls to the next year.

I think the X5 has a good chance of winning.

Why is the Volvo C30 on the performance car list? You can't be serious.

So this award obviously isn't solely based off the cars performance! I mean if it were, Ferrari would take home the trophy every year.

Anyways for overall car of the year I’d have to say either the X5 or G37 coupe (Even though I’d choose the R8 if I could have any car off that list).

Performance car of the year with design factored in as well as the vehicles performance would again be a tie for me, the R8 & V8 Vantage.

Why would you even include Dacia in this "car of the year"?

I have to say it either going to be the Aston Martin V8 Vantage, Audi R8 and maybe the Lexus IS-F or LS600 Hl.

The LS600hL is just an addition to the current LS lineup. It needs to be an entirely new car to be on this list.

C class and R8 for me.

And I note 2 people have voted for the Caliber and Nitro.

Why?

Go R8! It has 28% and 36% in the two categories! It will win at least one...

I had to go with the Subaru Impreza WRX and the Audi R8.

C-Class? Ugh..

I'm rooting for the R8 in both. Won't happen but it sure does deserve it.

Oh, so we're back to taking this award seriously? 'Cause for the past half year the fanatics have been pretty quiet on the WCOTY hype, they even claimed it was "silly" a few weeks ago...

...all because the LS won for 2007.

Audi, BMW, and Lexus have already won this award, so maybe they'll take that into consideration and give it to a great car from a different make?

Only the fanboys said it's silly. I personally think the LS deserved the award.

At first, I was critical of the LS, vs the S and 7er (yes, even the 7er). But, I actually think that the LS looks more prestigious and expensive than botht he S and 7. So yes, the LS DID deserve that award for a great deal many reasons. Don't mind me, I am just rambling.

R8 wil not win either.
second category wil be won hands down by clear winner ... the M3.

in the first category, it will be the C class or the infiniti. Bothe marginal cars and half hearted efforts.. but best of the rest. personally I vote for the X5.. but then again..

Agent 009,
I'd like to recommend you for the 'Agent of the Year' award (AOTY). You've done a fairly decent job of getting a wide range of car reports. Agent 001 seems to be the only other agent posting here.
What the hell do Agents 002- thru-008 do anyway? Are they undercover perpetually, nonexistent or what? Or is it just you and 001?
Anyhow, great reporting from you, and my vote for World Performance Car of the year goes to the 911GT3. Over and out.

Too bad the 911 GT3's not on the list to start with. It's not the GT3's fault that it always comes out at, or near the end of the 911's product cycle. It really is a totally new car that only shares its body with the rest of the 911 range.
