Who Wins "Best In Show" at Pebble Beach 50 Years From Now - A Look Into the Future of the Concours D'Elegance
2008 Pebble Beach Concours D'Elegance Photo Gallery Now Live

The annual Concours D'Elegance at Pebble Beach brings out the some of the most highly desirable cars in the world.  Year after year the cars and the people seem to get better looking, and the quality shown at this show is the best in the world.

A reader the other day asked the question as to what cars would be winning Pebble Beach in the future.  The question is a great and relevant question, what cars will be winning the coveted award in 30, 40 or 50 years from now.  Several names were tossed around including Bugatti, Spyker and of course Ferrari and some key Porsche models, but there are a lot of important cars not mentioned.

So lets take out our crystal ball, and gaze into the future and throw out some names that might someday win Best in Show at Pebble Beach.  A few that I thought of were the first generation M3 and M5 along with the M1, the 1990 Corvette ZR-1 is certainly a contender as well.  I would think the Acura NSX and even the original Lexus SC400 are worthy to join the field of competitors.

But what important cars am I missing, lets suppose you are the judge at Pebble Beach 2058 - What cars would you expect to see competing for the coveted Best in Show award?

Check out the new photo gallery from the Pebble Beach Concours D'Elegance

No jag will win -- excessive fake wood on dashboard. Maseratti Quattroporte or GT are possibilities along with some of the big Bentleys still in production.

Quattroporte isn't attractive enough to be a contender.

Enn -do you even know what an XJ220 is??? It's never so much as seen a tiny bit of wood. And Jaguar never use fake wood.

Powerful, fun, tech way ahead of its time, but...do its looks still measure up a few decades from now?

I'm just answering kthor's question...
How about Koenigsegg CCX?
Gumpert Apollo?

Bugatti EB110 was hotter.

Lexus LS 460 is a joke -- last time I checked the front passenger seat did not even have the same features and adjustments as the front driver's seat and that expensive LWB LS460 had a rear lounge seat with ottoman but on one side only -- listen up Lexus: ya can't clone a Maybach rear seat and do it on one side only without ending up with half a car.

The Porsche 965 could already almost be there. The CGT may need to be there too.

I have to agree with you on this one, there certainly won't be many left if they keep getting crashed and totaled at the rate they seem to be getting crashed and totaled.

I don't even want to get started with naming some cars. Their too tough to make a final decision on.

One contender I think would be the BMW Z8. It was low volume and great looking.

I agree. Mercedes SLK too, because of the folding roof. Started the trend.

Bugatti Veyron is unbelievable in person so that would be my current vote, but I could imagine the McLaren F1 deserving it and maybe the Enzo? (I've not seen them in person)

I've got to think the right Countach 5000S Quattrovalvole would garner several votes too. (I'm sure I butchered that spelling...to much cerveza!)
