Will The New Lexus LF-A Really Be As Great As We Anticipate?
Lexus is keeping the LF-A pretty top secret. Even though the car didn’t show up at the Tokyo Motor Show, spy photographers have still managed to catch the car in action and it’s looking closer and closer to the production model.

But is the new LF-A really going to be as unique as we expect? The concept car is neat. Very futuristic. Very Original. And Very Fast. As the production car comes together more and more, will it still be very futuristic and original when it’s rolling off the assembly line? Or will it be more of a copy of the R8 or just less unique and futuristic?

The LF-A is a favorite to me. Edgy, Blocky-yet smooth styling is what I like. And plenty of power. But I’m optimistic about its future. I personally think that the LF-A is losing its originality. I know that it is very rare for a concept car to turn into a production car with minimal changes. If the LF-A is still, as Lexus says, “a super car with world-class performance that is uniquely Lexus.” at the showroom floor, Then I will be very impressed.

“Lexus has long been perceived as the maker of mainstream luxury vehicles, but the unveiling of the IS F and LF-A not only changes this perception, it also introduces a new Lexus marque,” said Bob Carter, Lexus Division group vice president and general manager. “The ‘F’ shared by both vehicles is the signature for a new high-performance marque conceived by an engineering team that dared to turn their dream of ‘a Lexus like no other’ into a reality.” That Lexus like No Other, the LF-A may actually be like many others.

Please comment your thoughts about the LF-A.

Cant say that though but its evident that it will get beaten up if it is very pricey, and it cant hold much up to a gt-r if the acceleration is just under 4s , Lexus are trying too much to tune this car for max speed whereas Nissan tuned theirs for acceleration... only time can tell..Besides since this is their flagship car it will definitely be priced over $120,000...

um yeah. if i owned one, i would never sit in it. i went to a spyker/ferrari/maserati/fisker dealer and saw the D12, the suv. Classic guages, fast for a 4300 pound suv. the price was a little stiff though.

i heard at the dealer that they don't sell used spykers. they call it refurbished spykers. they completely take it apart and put it back together again, only the chassis stays

Production car has no camouflage=better aerodynamic, no test equipments = lighter, aluminum replaced by carbon fiber/fiber glass plastic = even lighter, which means it will a lot faster.

What do you expect from a Super Car weights less than 2,700lbs with a 550+hp, 9000rpm engine and a lighting fast shifting F1 sequential shift gearbox and drag coefficient smaller than Prius's 0.26?

I think everyone up here should wait for the official spec before making judgement on this Lexus LF-A. Almost everyone up here doubting the Nissan GT-R because it was big and only had 480hp.

And look at it actual test spec from Edmund.com The Nissan GT-R run the famous in 7:38s and do 0-60 in 3.3s or less.

I hope Lexus can back up it claim for this New Lexus LF-A. No matter what, this Lexus LF-A will be a Force to reckon with.

Personally I'm not that crazy about the front of the car, its basic. But I should say the most important thing in this segment is to have the right performance. As far as quality, no worries there it will definitly have the best quality, but I hope they do change the front there's realy nothing special about it, the back is unique to it though and I love it.

"Or will it be more of a copy of the R8 or just less unique and futuristic"

Could u please elaborate? What makes u bring Audi R8 into this?

LF-A concept is already there and it's 100% original (and i saw nobody ever raising the question that it looks like anything let alone R8). And the production LF-A will look like it as it will be the production version of the concept.

u guys are just........

fastonekiller

"lets wait and see what the actual specs are of the production LF-A."

yeah that's good idea. but then stand by it and don't try to prove or disprove the info.

U say Pagani has 750 BHP and did this lap time. I can show you many other sports cars with 750BHP or more but are nowhere closer to the Pagani F Clubsport lap time.

So i repeat not believing the info and waiting for the official one is good idea but then stand by your decision. Don’t try to prove it or disprove it.

On other note, if this were a german car say R8 V10, i could see u and many other german fans believing this info and try their fullest to prove it unlike here where u r trying to disprove it.

Awesome job Lexus and bring it soon.

Without the weird side scoops and the catfish face, the LF-A actually looks really good... They turned down the design on the front and borrowed a pair of scoops from the Murcielago, and now it looks like a proper sports car... The first from Japan... It is going to be interesting to see if it really is as good as the rumors say... I don't believe the Nordsleife time though... Had they really done a 7:27 time around the ring, people would be aware of it and nobody in the community around track racing in europe can confirm the actual source of the rumor... At least none of the people I know...

Still, looks bloody good! Now release it already so we can get some reviews!

Acura NSX anyone?

Its simple. Folks do not go to Japan to spend over $100,000 on A car. They go to Europe or Italy.

The sad part is that even though the Acura NSX wasn't successful (in sales) the NSX did show Ferrari and lamborghini that a Super car doesn't have to be demanding to drive. Even though the Lexus will probably fail, The Lexus will probably show the other makes a thing or two about exotic cars.

I don't think the weight value of 2900lbs is correct. It may be close but, I don't think it's 2900lbs. And obviously, the time is most likely correct since, it's been reported everywhere.

But, assuming it weighs 2900lbs with 550hp. Then to compare it with a Zonda, your best bet would be to look at the suspension layouts of both along with gearing and transmission set-up. And I don't mean the suspension/tranny *type*, I mean the specific *technical numbers* that go with all the suspension components and transmission. Another part to getting good *numbers* around the track is to have a good suspension and transmission. Even though it uses a DSG tranny, there still can be some modifications that Lexus might have made to get an advantage. This might explain the reported time, IF assuming the weight is 2900lbs!

But at this point, it is very hard to deduce anything concrete since we don't have any definite data on the weight/suspension set-up/tranny set-up.
