Will the Lexus LF-A tear the GT2 and GT-R to shreads?
The king is dead, long live the king! Lexus’ long-awaited LF-A has unofficially smashed the lap record at Germany’s Nürburgring, with a time of seven minutes, 24 seconds.
That beats Porsche’s new GT2 by a second and makes the Lexus the King of the ’Ring. Company insiders have revealed that a 4.8-litre V10 – co-developed with Yamaha – powered the record-breaking test mule. It revs to 9,000rpm and pumps out 552bhp. Combined with a highly aerodynamic body, it should enable the LF-A to hit 210mph.

Amazing car.
Agent 009, can you find out if next Supra benefits from LF-A in any way? A 9,000 rpm engine will be a good start.

Wait a minute.
Remember my post of GT-R running 7:15 at Nurburgring? It's sourced from the same magazine AUTO EXPRESS.
Now, eventually GT-R runs officially at 7:38, so maybe we should add some 20 seconds to 7:24 and you'll get 7:44, which I think will be more likely for an NA RWD weighing probably at 3,500 lb(I guess).

Seems like when they do it everybody goes googoo-gaga over it. The physics of an Engine doesn't change from manufacturer to manufacturer or country to country!

This verifies what I clocked at the Nurburgring 4 1/2 months ago as I posted on this site. I'm employed as an auto engineer with a competing company and 4 of us were at the track when this Lexus/Toyota(?) was testing. As I posted in August the times we recorded the LF-A in several sectors of the track were the fastest all of us had ever witnessed. We knew it was a high-powered V10, but what really surprised us was the incredible handling in fast bends. I stated at the time it was faster than the Porsche GT3 RS, but from today's report it seems it's faster than even the Porsche GT2. I am impressed!

at first release, i to thought the celica wasn't attractive, but after the release of the TRD body accents, it has grown on me as a very sexy celica. C&D even claims so, they we skeptical of the intial design, but after hard looks Toyota started something with the elongated headlights and it just turned out to be a very very good looking vehicle that sold and performed well for its purpose.

so getting expertise help from an outside company, which Lexus/Toyota has done before, is frowned upon by yourself?
i'm sorry, but that has to be one of the most bizzar thoughts of the week.
toyota/lexus is doing it rite, they are killing 2 bids with one stone. producing a supercar whilst learning the advanced aspects of headflow/porting/etc from Yamaha. they will no doubt take this as a elarning class to build on. and i'm sure Yamaha has no issues with it being that they assisted in producing the expected beast this is sought to be.

stop making execuse, the same can be said to MB AMG, BMB M, and Audi S/RS. Just admitted, if this rumor is true, the German just got their azz beat again by the Japanese. First the Nissan GT-R embrass them and now this Lexus LF-A. And don't worry the Honda NSX will soon join them, so is the Toyota Supra.
This Lexus LF-A is going to embrass all the German supercar, and make them look like a VW Bettle ;-)

you clearly are not of nor do you understand the economic class of people who buy astons, ferraris, bentleys, etc.
those cars are bought just as much for PRESTIGE as they are for their looks and performance. there are no entry level cars, they all cost a fortune. and if you think people buying cars of this caliber want to be associated with a brand that is known for rebadged toyotas like the ES and RX, you have no clue. when people ask for the aston at a valet, EVERYONE knows what it is. not so with a lexus that could be a camry or an LF-A.

This Flylow character sounds like an idiot. I'm sorry, but putting down Ferrari and Renault?
Ferrari and Renault both have a very successful Formula 1 history. They also have produced very innovative cars with global appeal. You can slam Renault, Citroen and Peugeot all you want, but the fact remains that the French have equally contributed a great share of innovations and technology to the automotive world - moreso than Toyota, which simply build affordable and reliable cars but never even ventured into daring designs or technology.
And WRC is not "true racing" as you defined it. WRC is about strategy, endurance and handling mainly. Speed is not really of importance. Heck, a 1950s Mercedes 190D (Diesel) won the South Africa Rally in the late 1950s beating out faster competitors. "True racing", as is generally considered by the purists, pertains to Formula 1, Le Mans, Mille Miglia, Carrera Panamericana etc.
Toyota hasn't done well in any of these. They have not even participated in them with the exception of F1 and Le Mans. Lexus? What motorsport heritage does Lexus have? None.

What's wrong with BMW or Mercedes not having a "100% real F1 team"? Such stupid comments made by you really suggest that you're either:
A) Retarded
B) Immature
C) Fanboy
D) ALL OF THE ABOVE
Grow up and come back when you have intelligent things to say.
The funny thing is, both BMW and Mercedes have a successful partnership with their respective partners. The same can't be said for the "100% pure Toyota team", which by the way acted arrogant and snobby refusing to listen to driver input from Ralf Schumacher for example, who was known to complain about his Toyota F1 car stating that it was inferior to the competition.

2. can you tell me who is based in germany in F1? they all are? I assume Ferrari is too? Renault? Spyker/Force India? Redbull racing? Toro Rosso? Mclaren? Williams? The truth is, you don't know...
3. Mclaren's majority owner is Mercedes-Benz, so why is that not count as a factory team?
