I thought that you would automatically take the CTS since now Jaguar is owned by Tata, an Indian company. Me I like both, but lean towards the Jag.

Really, they are cars for two completely different buyers. The Jaguar is going to be a much more subtle, smooth power, where the Cadillac is pretty in your face and sporty. The interior and tech in the Jag intregues me more, but they both look amazing.

If I were to get either one though, I'd lease for sure.

I find that the XF looks better when placed next to another car- it looks more extreme in its proportions when one has something to compare it to.

Even with Autoblog saying "The fit, finish and execution are totally unmatched in this highly competitive class and we can say with impunity that nothing short of a Roller or a Bentley comes close to the design and materials inside the XF." I still have one thing about it that I really don't like. The buttons to open the cup holders in the center stack push down into teh surface, and it makes the center console woodwork feel ...insubstantial. Although, I did notice that the American Walnut trim is not quite as severe in that impression.

Easy CD. You are really nitpicking now. I mean, come on!

For me disliking only one (little) thing is really like disliking nothing at all.

...and the interior is very very well done. I don't care who you are, I doubt that anyone would be able to prevent themselves from grinning when using the proximity sensor roundel to open the glove box for the first time.

I have, as of now, seen four XFs on the road. They were all beautiful. For instance, I saw a gray Luxury V8 model today, followed by a CLS500 and S550 a minute later. The Mercs just didn't do anything for me after laying eyes on the new Jaguar. It's firmly on my list, and I'm sure you're excited to see the new XJ, cdoke.

Dood, Lexus copies everyone and you know it.

First they put up all the cars they want to compete with and their designers they're told to imagine how those cars would look in the future.

Next thing you know we have a Lexus that looks like a Jag or an Aston, but it's all cheap cheap plastic.

cheap, cheap, cheap :-(

Lexus had to do something different. The salesguys were tired of asking:"Would you like a fancy Camry, or the E-Class copy?"

I'd take the XF over ... almost anything. Can I get one with a turbo-diesel that gets 40+ MPG on the highway? I'd rather have that than the new Jetta Sport Wagon TDI, which is the logical choice right now.

Is it the first time first time that EL34 has said something sensible! Wow, during time of my reading of the blog, he actually has a positive boost. Incredible.

XF was just tested by fifth gear, and they said that it is a world class car. Everyone has been just full of praise for this awesome car.

ironically, no. My wife's Beemer conv. didn't hold up half as well as my Lexus (nor did my M5 for that matter...). Cracked wood inserts, rusted trunk struts, and worn seatbelt feeds (on conv. they come out of seat). I meticulously detailed both regularly and was quite surprised, especially the wood cracks since she never left the top down unless she was driving. And they wouldn't replace a single piece under warranty, saying it fell under 'wear and tear'!!

I'm glad Caddilac finally got rid of those fugly rectangular fog lights that were their trademark. They looked like they were lifted off an '85 S-10 pickup. What were they thinking?

Sounds like major improvements, but the stealth bomber styling is getting tired real fast.
XF looks like a real car, not a Transformer toy car.

The CTS and XF have both gotten nothing but praise. I am partial to the Jaguar, but I could imagine getting either.

I have seen both cars in person so I would say yes for the Cadillac CTS, and NO for Jaguar XF. The Cadillac CTS look stunning, especially the up and coming Coupe version.

I saw a silver/brownish Jaguar XF last weekend at work, and I was NOT impress at all. But on the other hand, one of my client has a Silver Jaguar XK-R, it was definitely Gorgeous. It look much better in person than the pictures.

I'm guessing you saw the non-supercharged model with the ugly wheels. Wait until you see the SV8; the 19" rims complete the look.
