Would I Make YOU Smile If I Showed You How To End Your Dependence On Foreign Oil TODAY?
What if there was a solution coming in that could totally end yours and our dependence on foreign oil.

Would you get in line to buy it today?

Would you get excited if I told you you can fill it up in California for about 15 bucks and get a 250 mile range?

And would you boast to your friends who own hybrids that you are 100% green, unlike them who still burn gas in the hybrid?

That would be a great day wouldn't it?

And with gas prices the way they are today, it is one sexy thought.

Well, how about if I told you that you can walk into a dealer in California and buy it today?

001, that's CRAZY talk!

Well I'm here to tell you it isn't and you CAN buy this car today in certain states, California being one of them.

It's called the Honda Civic NGV (Natural Gas Vehicle).

It looks and feels NO different from a regular Civic (aside from a smaller trunk) but gives you TONS of benefits.

Of course, less expense for fuel is number one.
It's 100% green
You get full HOV lane access with it
You receive two tax credits when you purchase it, totalling $7,000!
And if you invest the $5k to put a hookup in your house (It's called PHILL), your gas rate goes down across the board at your house ans that $15.00 fillup goes down to around $5.00!!!!

You owe it to yourself to see if this is a solution that can work for you.

The amazing thing is that this vehicle has been around for over 10 years!!!!

Check out 001's Video review of the Honda Civic NGV

Recognizing Honda's application of fuel efficient and alternative fuel technologies, four Honda vehicles earned recognition from the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) as the "greenest vehicles of 2008" with the Civic GX natural gas car taking the title of the greenest vehicle for the fifth consecutive year, American Honda Motor Co., Inc., announced today. In the 11th annual ACEEE's "Green Book® Online" ranking of environmentally responsible vehicles (available at www.greenercars.org), the natural gas-powered Civic GX ranked first with the gasoline Civic, Fit and Civic Hybrid joining the list of the 12 most environmentally-conscious vehicles available to the public. This is the eighth year in a row that a Honda vehicle received the number one ranking and the seventh consecutive year that Honda vehicles held at least four positions in the top 12, an impressive one-third of all vehicles on the list. "The ACEEE awards speak to the commitment Honda has made to lead the industry in lowering emissions, increasing fuel efficiency and reducing dependence on oil," said John Mendel, executive vice president of American Honda. "Honda continues to set the standard for socially and environmentally-responsible automotive products and our commitment to alternative fuels will further expand with the zero emissions FCX Clarity fuel cell vehicle coming to market this summer." Using a singular measure that incorporates fuel economy, health-related pollution impacts and global warming emissions, all vehicles are analyzed and given a "Green Score." This score is used in ACEEE's ranking system, resulting in a ranking of each vehicle's total environmental performance, including a list of the 12 "greenest" and 12 "meanest" vehicles. The Civic GX, first introduced in 1998, is the cleanest internal combustion vehicle certified by the EPA*, and is 90% cleaner than the average gasoline-powered car on the road today. Honda has a long history of environmental leadership including the introduction of America's first hybrid, the Honda Insight, delivery of the first fuel cell vehicle in the U.S., and the first vehicles to meet stricter emissions standards, including:

* The first gasoline Low Emissions Vehicle (LEV), the 1996 Honda Civic.
* The first gasoline Ultra-Low Emissions vehicle (ULEV), the 1998 Honda Accord.
* The first gasoline Super Ultra-Low Emissions Vehicle (SULEV), the 2000 Honda Accord.
* The first Advanced Technology Partial-Zero Emissions Vehicle (AT-PZEV), the 2001 Civic GX natural gas vehicle.

The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing energy efficiency as a means of promoting both economic prosperity and environmental protection. *EPA Tier-2, Bin-2 and ILEV certification as of May 2007

*Special thanks to my bud Jim Rondinelli and Brad Johnson from Pacific Honda for the 411 on the Civic NGV

$25k is pretty lofty for a Civic.

I agree. Buy a 15K Civic(or even better cars like VW Rabbit or Mazda 3) and have 10K left for gas with no travel destination restrictions. I remember that about 20 years ago Citroen and even other European makers built similar NGV cars but the idea was abandoned since the diesel cars proved to be a lot better choice.
NGV cars get a big NO from me. Same goes for hybrids.

In Europe consumers actually have the choice of a limited number of natural gas-powered cars. Opel Combo, Fiat Multipla and Mercedes E200 Kompressor NGT come to mind. A lot of gas stations over here offer natural gas too, so if you end up buying one you don't have to worry about not being able to fill up. Plus, in the case of the Mercedes E200 Kompressor NGT, you can drive it on its gasoline engine like a normal car even if you run out of NG.

$7K Tax Credit brings it down to $17k.

When you can get a Civic for 15k, and have 10grand left over from the 25.... generally, who puts 10 grand aside just for a gas fund ?...

you can get a civic for 15k? Where? I thought they all were at or over 20k. They must price gauge at my dealer.

7 K$ tax credit doesn't bring the car to 17 K$, Agent 001. That's a pretty stupid statement. 7K$ tax credit means you wont't pay taxes on 7K$ of your income. So whatever your tax rate is, that's what you save. Since nobody pays 100% in tax, you don't save 7K$. If you pay 30%, you save $2,100. Nowhere near bringing the car to 7K$.

If you owe 7k in taxes, the tax credit erases the full 7G's of debt.

Europeans did it 20-25 years ago. Ancient technology in cars buddy, new only to the poor Japanese engineers.
By the way a Prius looks cool only if is in flames.

Sorry, the Prius and Civic are not real leaders in the design category. At least the Civic looks no different than a gas powered car. The Prius looks like an armadillo on wheels.

Homer007, thanks for the name calling, real mature of you. I don't have any loyalty to ANY German brand, nor any brand overall. So, before you write, you should think, maybe about not jumping to conclusions and hating brands/people. I am no kid but thanks for the compliment.

Natural gas isn't in short supply AND we can get it right in our own back yard.

That's marketing talk?

Why is it that natural gas have never become that popular in cars... Hmm... Lets see... BECAUSE IT'S LIKE DRIVING AROUND IN A BOMB! If you want to sail an LNG-carrier, you need a six month course... If you want to drive it around, you get a $7000 tax credit?!?

Natural gas is very safe in homes, however it isn't very safe in a cars fuel tank! It is pressurized and if the tank ruptures you will have HIGHLY flammable and VERY cold (cold enough to flash freeze ANYTHING it comes into contact with) natural gas all over the place!

I just thought I'd mention it before you all run down and buy yourself a new Civic NGV. They tried it in europe some years ago, but they found out it didn't work that well! Ohh... And the engine sounds funny to!

"They tried it in europe some years ago, but they found out it didn't work that well"

Exactly. I don't have any idea how this is marketed as new, groundbreaking technology in America since Europeans tried it 20 years ago and already concluded that the idea has no future because of the risks involved.

natural gas cars aren't sold alot, but many are used as commercial fleets and parking enforcement cars in my area. and the civics use some sort of filling station that fills the car up every night...

This is no secret. My dad's company has a fleet of Civic GXs. The problem is finding places that sell natural gas. And if more people buy these cars, natural gas prices will skyrocket and people won't be able to afford utilities in their homes.

10% of cars in Italy use CNG, their share even in Germany is 2% to 3%. The technology is not new, its widespread.

Before you rush to buy one, consider this: CNG cars over there are not allowed entering parking structures and garages due to possible gas leak. Driving behind a CNG will "smell" if you know what I mean. Although the original intention was to decrease cost of travel, CNG prices have been moving in parallel with gasoline costs lately, once it becomes popular expect to go the same way as diesel did.

Third and most important drawback: check luggage space. The CNG "tank" takes up far more space than gas.

So does this mean you can fill up the Civic NGV with propane instead? That would be my only concern, whether or not you could fill up at gas stations.

The Germans could make a NGV, they'd just put 24 cylinders in it and a gas tank as well, making the NGV part merely a gimmick, just like they did with the Hydrogen 7.

jwalker,
True about the price increase, but atleast natural gas is cleaner.
My guess is that Europe doesn't subsidize natural gas.

What the hell does that have to do with anything?! Ohh... And the germans did make natural gas vehicles, but they like their customers to return for their next car... And that is a bit hard if they've been blown up or poisoned by leaking gas! So they stopped again.

And NO... You can't fill it up with propane! That is like filling diesel into that ol' jeep of yours! If you knew anything about engines, you would know that they are designed specifically for one fuel.

Propane is just compressed and liquified natural gas. Don't take the question too personally.

Umm NO... Propane is an organic gas, but not natural gas... natural gas is by definition methane with small amounts of other organic gasses (some of it propane)... Pure propane is made from petroleum distillates. Propane has three carbon groups, methane has one. So using propane would give you a way higher energy density meaning you'd either get to little power from the engine running on methane or way too much power (Resulting in catastrophic failure of the engine) running on propane... As I said, like trying to run a gas car on diesel...
