Would you rather drive the Rolls Royce Ghost or be chauffeured in one?

The all-new Ghost will feature a 6.

6 liter turbochaged V12 engine which will pump out horsepower in the 500 range while also being what you would expect from a Rolls- pure luxury. From a driving standpoint this engine should be more exciting to pilot than that of a Phantom. Does this mean more people will be buying the Ghost for their own hands to drive? It will be quite intersting to see the numbers as to how many people actually drive their Rolls to how many get chauffeured in one? One things for sure, this is one car we want to drive.

Ah, what difference does it make if you're chauffeured or not, re: getting keyed? It's the car they'd be targeting, not the individual. Then again, if you park it in a crappy part of town you do run the risk.

I would do both I mean its a rolls royce that is the chauffeurs car of choice. but its not like it is a limo which means it can be a daily driver for the head of a company. if i had a phantom it would be chauffeured all the way I wouldnt even attempt to drive it.

You see these things around a lot in South Florida. They have all the grace of a well-made double wide trailer.

BMW has ruined Rolls. The cars used to get away with ostentation with a bit of humor and grace in the staid design. Now, they just look like laquered Panzers.

The can't be making money on them, either. Look at the Maybach fiasco.

You're mistaken about the profit thing. Rolls Royce is hugely successful since BMW bought it. Maybach, on the other hand, is a disaster. Nobody is buying those things. Phantoms are easily seen in upscale urban areas throughout the USA and in London and Hong Kong and the Middle East. You really should get out a little more....

Well know you don't. The RR Ghost is not in production. If he speaking of the Phantom, RR build less than a 1000 each year for world wide distribution, So their not an Accord. It was BMW goal to return RR to the motor car it was before the 70,80,90's. The original RR's were never subtle, only cash starved RR in those decades were.

I think the author of this news asks the most vital question of current times considering that:
- every 5th American has no job
- consumer prices index inflation in 8% and was 12% moments ago
- annual GDP is -4%
- purchasing power of the dollar is 5% of what it was a 100 years ago

Driving a Rolls Royce or being driven in one... this is what bothers minds of all Americans in the moment.

The "chauffeur" thing is played out in my opinion. Its like the whole "limo" thing these days. No one really cares about them anymore. I know some people still need them but I would much rather be seen in and be behind the drivers seat of ANY Rolls.

Drive it to where I needed to go, then switch places with the Chauffer so it looks like I was driven there.

HP and turbo's don't matter much for these cars, they weigh 3 tons.

Neither. I prefer the stately elegance of a Bentley (without any rapper bling, of course). I feel that RR maker, BMW, has lost their styling sense, favoring trendiness and "different for the sake of different" over "beautiful." 7 series. 5 series. Rolls Royce. All uniquely awkward, but none beautiful.
