Your boss made a mistake and your bonus is only $50k! Which car/cars do you buy now?
NOW the game gets harder.

The boss just walked into your office and said he made a horrible mistake.

The bonus that was supposed to be $100,000 is only $50,000!

So you have to scale down your expectations and pick a car/cars with the $50k check.

Cars or trucks only…no bikes, atv’s, boats, etc.

So what’s it going to be Auto Spies?

Tell us your choice/choices.

And that’s $50,000 USD and you are purchasing vehicles only available in the good old USA.

We’ll all make our choices after a few comments are posted…

Let the dreaming and fun continue!

Can you get an S5 for $50k?

Let's make this real interesting...it HAS to be less than $50k...can't go over, or pay the difference on your own.

Thanks, EvoAudi. It would be $500 over. I think that's doable, LOL 001. The 335xi would also be under consideration, though, which can be had (with few options) for under $50K.

I did it again, Priced And Built Cars. My Choice is a weird one, but a good one.

2008 VW Touareg 2 VR6 [without air suspention]-Base MSRP*=$48,320.00 + Package $3,350 + other options $7,329.00= EXACTLY $50,000 + shipping, ect.
I did not set it up or anything. you can build one yourself if you want!

We all know what xDrive is.

And the 328xi is definitely not a sports car. If 0-60 in 6.9 sec gets you going...

And 6.9 is slow????? What part of the 328xi isn't a sports car? Honestly S4 I think that's an odd thing to say...complain about 6.9 to 60...

It's a sporty coupe, but sports car is pushing it. The 911, R8 and V8 Vantage are SPORTS CARS. Even the 335i could be labeled as one! But the 328xi? That's the slowest 3 Series available in the US.

RupertRupert - 11/28/2007 6:29:22 PMView My AgentSpace

6.9 is the slowest my god...
We get the fantastic 318i automatic that blazes to 60 in 9.9 seconds...
The slowest BMW on sales is the 116i Automatic, which doesn't even have valvetronic...storms to 60 in 11.2 seconds. Buy that car in M-sport trim and it's the same price as a GTi. Makes so much sense...

S5 was going to be my choice, but unfortunately you can't get a stripped S5 unless you ordered it that way and adding taxes/tags alone will get you over the $50K mark. Prob will get a 335i coupe; unoriginal choice I know but the second best coupe out there for this price range IMO.

I'm not sure why the question was phrased as a job/bonus hypotherical rather than a 50K decision.

Choice 1 - Blow the entire 50K on a 335i .

Choice 2 - Buy a Civic Si and keep the change for time when a better 50K car comes around .

It would be a hard pressed decision too .

I would also buy a BMW M3, Audi R8, Audi RS4, Lexus LS600hL (yes, really, just to have), Merc S65 AMG, Merc CL600, Porsche 997 GT2 and C4S Cabriolet, Ferrari F430 Scuderia, Ferrari 599 GTB, Range Rover Supercharged, Aston DB9 Volante, Maserati Quattroporte, Maserati GT, Jaguar XKR, VW GTI, Audi S8, BMW X5 4.8i, loaded GMC Yukon Denali XL (for all the seats), Merc CLS63 & E63 AMG, Cadillac CTS, BMW 335xi, BMW M6, Audi RS6 Avant from Europe, Lexus IS-F, Lamborghini LP640 Spyder and keep my S4.

Only $50K? Hmm... Well, firstly, I will say ... this boss is a bit of a jackass (who made this nutcase a boss, anyway?)

Secondly, as far as the cars go ...
1. Mazda CX-7/Toyota Rav4/Hyundai Santa Fe SE or similar
2. 2008 Honda Accord EX V6

This should be manageable in the 50K and I have to say, these are sensible cars for the family.

If American a base Chevy Corvette is not bad.I'd have to forgo the leather package though to keep it under 50 grand but I would go for the sport exaust option. If I wanted awd I would splurg for an Audi S5 and pay the few dollars over 50 K.
