eBay motors follows Auto Spies lead and adopts hot new photocasting technology
FilmLoop, Inc., a provider of free software that enables people and businesses to broadcast, find, and share digital images, today announced a pilot project with eBay Motors. Using the FilmLoop photocasting technology, potential buyers and automotive enthusiasts can now showcase collector car listing updates in the form of "Loops" directly to their desktops. FilmLoop's live listings allow eBay Motors community members an easy and direct way to monitor new listings in some of the hottest car collector categories and to stay up-to-date on the bidding activity.

***All you need to do is download the filmloop player (Click on the moving filmstrip below). Mac version coming soon.

The pilot's first collector car categories include: Ferraris, Corvettes, Packards, race cars, custom built motorcycles, military vehicles, and a Loop of other brands -- a fun catchall for items like World War II era ambulances and yellow school buses. To view these Loops please visit http://ebay.filmloop.com/motors.

"The eBay Motors pilot is another example of how FilmLoop's technology allows businesses to tap into the desktop's significant and untapped commercial power," said Kyle Mashima, CEO and co-founder of FilmLoop. "We take a tremendous amount of pride in helping individuals, communities, and small and large businesses alike maximize the value of communicating in real-time using visual images."

How the FilmLoop Pilot Works

Collector car enthusiasts subscribe to a "Loop" of eBay Motors' listings directly from the eBay Motors site. A Loop is a dynamic string of images that scrolls across a user's desktop. The Loop is updated every few minutes, and shows photos of the thirty-five most recently updated listings the moment they come up for sale. As soon as a vehicle is listed in their chosen category, it appears immediately in the user's Loop. If a user is interested in a certain automobile, they can move their mouse over the image and learn the car make, item number, location, current price, number of bids, and listing end date. By clicking on the image, the user is directly connected to the eBay Motors site, where they can learn more about the car and make a bid. The FilmLoop Player is free and installed with one click.

"FilmLoop is in a league all by itself in terms of tapping into the rich commercial value of communicating via digital images," said Mike McGuire, research director for Gartner. "By providing businesses with a viral way to market their products and services, it offers companies a rare opportunity to extend their brand directly to consumers' desktops."
