Someday ALL cars will have to get over 40mpg highway.
001 had the distinct pleasure of driving the new MINI Clubman S with the 'John Cooper Works' package during my weekend stay in the Bay Area.
And as you can see from the photos, I was getting OVER 40MPG during highway driving!
No kidding!
I was so impressed I thought I'd run down to a dealer and pick one up for a daily driver, so I did.
So while our competitors are re-hasing press releases, the Spies always have our ears to the street, giving you the REAL scoop on what's happening in the car business.
So back to my MINI shopping excursion today...
To my surprise, you can't find one ANYWHERE without the added dealer markup of $5k.
They have always sold at MSRP or close to it, but $5k over?
We like to refer this as the STUPID tax.
So adding the stupid tax in, a MINI with the Works package will run you over $45k, PLUS tax!!!!
Are you kidding me?
You can get a loaded 335 for close to that or a G35 with everything!
So be warned, no question the MINI is cool, especially a loaded John Cooper Works garb.
But the priveledge will cost you.
Remember, the Spies are always looking out for you!
