To prove its fuel efficiency, Ford will attempt to drive a brand-new 2011 Ford Mustang V6 to accomplish 1000 laps on a single tank at Bristol Motor Speedway.

If you recall, Ford successfully drove a new 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid more than 1000 miles on one tank of gas. Jamie Allison, director of Ford’s North American motorsports activities, said that while everyone knows the fun factor in driving a Mustang, today’s market is also about fuel economy. He said that the company wants to emphasize how the Mustang can be “mean and green” by being able to do 1000 laps on one of NASCAR’s most popular tracks.
