Nissan has added Hawaii on the list of regions that will receive the Leaf in 2011. The world’s first mass produced electric vehicle will soon be officially launched and Nissan aims to drum interest for the product in as many regions as possible.

Nissan and the State of Hawaii are collaborating on the framework to be used to develop a charging network in the area. Governor Linda Lingle said that the state appreciates Nissan’s acknowledgement of Hawaii as a “global model for electric vehicles and a leader in clean energy.”
