For the month of May, European assembly plants hold the record for the second-largest number of cars produced for the year, according to J.D. Power Automotive Forecasting.

This is attributed to the demand for models from Hyundai, Kia and most premium brands. Overall European production recorded 1,382,275 units in May, a 7% increase. However, the most productive month for 2010 is still March, with 1,584,431 vehicles produced. J.D. Power data show that for the first five months of 2010, European production went up 23% to 7,141,624 units.
