Microsoft Corp. Chairman Bill Gates and investor Vinod Khosla have given $23.5 million to EcoMotors International to design and test its trademarked Opoc engine technology.

In a statement, EcoMotors said that the investment signifies a major advancement in commercializing its opposed piston-opposed cylinder engine. The engine maker intends to use the funds to complete testing and to construct demonstration units. No other details about the funding have been revealed.
