Ford announced today that it will offer its new Ford Focus Electric compact in 19 major metro markets found in the United States. The first markets selected for Ford Focus Electric are: Atlanta, Austin and Houston, Texas; Boston, Chicago, Denver, Detroit, Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, New York, Orlando, Fla., Phoenix and Tucson, Ariz.; Portland, Ore.; Raleigh Durham, N.C.; Richmond, Va., Seattle, and Washington, D.C.

The new car will be available in late 2011, and will be assembled at the Michigan Assembly plant in Wayne, Michigan. This means that production will occur on the same line as the gasoline version of the Focus.
