Here ye! Here Ye!
As you already probably know, Porsche has said that it has a new model coming to the 2011 Detroit Auto Show. And if you haven't heard, its press conference is at a mind numbing 6:30 a.m. I guess that's what happens when you don't show up for several years.
Although I don't think anyone wants to be up in that brisk Detroit air, Porsche has made it known that you should want to be there. With that said, this led to Agent 001 and I e-mailing back and forth last night trying to figure out what the big unveil could possibly be.
This is where you come in because there are several options:
1) 918-based production car, *which AutoBild is claiming a 918 Coupe will be at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show
2) The Cajun, baby sport-utility vehicle
3) A Panamera Coupe
With a 918-based production vehicle it just seems entirely too predictable given that the company revealed the out-of-nowhere 918 Spyder. Perhaps Porsche is going to pull a fast one and do one of those "Here is the 918 Coupe and guess what, it's on sale today," type of things.
Or could it be the "raging" Cajun SUV? Porsche has admitted in recent months the company is looking to expand its lineup and what better way to continue this than celebrating with a new, sporty SUV offering? Seems like Detroit would be the right venue for a truck revelation.
Here's the wildcard. Porsche's four-door Panamera has done exceedingly well, probably better than 90 percent of what the market was thinking. Keeping this in mind, the brand desperately needs another sales success to continue bringing in profit for Porsche. Wouldn't this be the best solution to do so?
**Do some thinking and let us know, which car do you think Porsche is bringing to the Motor City. If you have a conspiracy theory, make sure to let us know and spell it all out for us!
