President Barack Obama, in his speech on U.S. energy policy at Georgetown University, said that by 2015, the federal government will only buy hybrids, electric vehicles and other alternative-fuel vehicles. He also said that the U.S. will undertake plans to team up with private companies that seek to upgrade their fleets by using alternative-fuel vehicles. Currently, the government operates over 600,000 fleet vehicles.
