One common belief that is held by many folks that stumble across an unrestored item is that it has to be fixed right away. Even if that means hastily "repairing" the item and actually ruining it.

Then it's known as a "barn find," and it's rare. For car buffs, it's an almost mythical concept. But, unlike Big Foot and Mermaids, barn finds really do exist...
