One car that has shined in 2011's spotlight is the McLaren MP4-12C. Although I have no knowledge of any actually arriving on our shores -- besides a show car and one that was wrecked in the Seattle area -- it seems like this is going to be McLaren's year.

In addition to the standard coupe, McLaren has shown its GT3 version of the car and what's this? Someone has gone on a limb and rendered a spider variant. And although I am not a huge convertible fan, I've got to say the MP4-12C looks fantastic without its roof.

It seems to have that panache that everyone says is lacking from the Mac.

Then again, I am a bit bias since I love anything McLaren, orange and reminds me of the F1. Oh, how I miss the 1990s.


Our friends at Teamspeed are reporting that a McLaren MP4-12C Spider is on its way following the rumours that we would see the release of one new product each year for the next five years.

The mono-tub on the MP4-12C Spider should ensure rigidity regardless of the final design chosen so there will be no likelihood of compromised rigidity. The mechanicals should remain the same as the coupe’s. So you’ll find a 592bhp twin-turbocharged 3.8 liter V8 engine perfectly fitted behind the cabin. A seven-speed twin-clutch Seamless Shift Gearbox (SSG) is to be the only transmission offered with shifting controlled via paddles mounted behind the steering wheel...
