Remember way back in 2009 when an electric automaker, fronted by an unbelievably talented designer -- Henrik Fisker -- received over a half billion dollar in funds from the US government?
Well, now that things seem to have started rolling at Fisker, there are plans for expanding the line up. Predictably, it seems that the EV car builder will be lining up with the likes of other luxury brands who are going the way of the sport-utility vehicle.

According to reports from Auto Express, Fisker is looking to use its new "Project Nina" platform to shape an SUV that will price well in the luxury range.
[Insert sarcasm here] That makes a lot of sense considering electric cars are just selling out of showrooms left and right [End sarcasm].
I understand that Fisker has a whole bunch of cash burning a hole in its pocket, thanks to that large government loan, but it would probably be wiser to stabilize the company first before expanding its product lineup. Unless, of course, it has no faith in the Karma and upcoming Nina.
The Californian maker expanded its line-up by launching the Surf shooting brake estate at September’s Frankfurt Motor Show, but an insider told us “a crossover SUV is definitely on the cards”.
This will be based on a new platform that will debut on the forthcoming small saloon Fisker is readying under the codename Project Nina. The four-door will be similar in size to a BMW 5 Series, but will cost “about the same as a top-end 3 Series”, weighing in at around £40,000.
The Project Nina saloon will go on sale in 2013, with a range-extending hybrid powertrain like the Karma’s. But the engine will be sourced from BMW...
