Stirring the pot at the beginning of this week's internet rumormill is word suggesting that Mercedes-Benz is preparing an ultralight version of the E-Class luxury sedan.
According to Auto Bild, this largely carbon fiber-built product will focus on being lighter, stronger and more rigid than previous models. In addition, it won't be your standard, Plain Jane E-Class. This puppy is expected to feature some concept car-like items like sliding or Gullwing doors.

According to a report from German magazine Auto Bild, Mercedes-Benz is developing a lightweight version of the E-Class which will weigh 350kg (770lbs) less than the standard model.
The lightweight E-class will be made of carbon fiber which has many advantages in weight and performance. The material is more rigid and much lighter than steel.
