2012 will be a BIG year for Lotus. Not only is the storied brand celebrating its 60th birthday, it has also been given the honor of being the "feature marque" at the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Autocar is reporting that the center feature installation will celebrate the past and future of the company's products, not to mention its lengthy racing history.

But one thing that's intrigued me: What does Lotus have to do to earn YOUR attention?

It creates some of the purist driving vehicles today and, my God, they are seductive when you look at them; however, they don't seem to strike a chord with the frequenters around here. WHY is that?

That said, what does Lotus have to do in 2012 to get YOUR attention?

Something tells me it won't have anything to do with the brand's new VP of Creative Design, Swizz Beatz.

Lotus will be the feature marque at next summer’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. The pioneering Hethel-based company is celebrating 60 years since its formation in 2012, and will be honoured with the main ‘centre feature’ installation that is displayed prominently outside Goodwood House.

The past and future of Lotus will be celebrated at the West Sussex event. The year marks a number of major anniversaries for the brand: it’ll be the 50th anniversary of the Lotus Elan and 35 years since the innovative Lotus 78 ground effect racing car competed in Formula 1...
