The 2012 New York Auto Show was something else.

A peculiar mix of consumer-focused products with a dash of downright zany concepts. It was like a cocktail made by a first-time barkeep. It's definitely not what you asked for but at the end of the day it gets the job done.

Looking at the consumer products, Subaru's European crossover, the XV Crosstrek, made its Big Apple debut. The XV is a logical progression for the brand and paves a clear path for Subaru to obtain a more youthful demographic that isn't just interested in speed and the BRZ or WRX.

Then you have vehicles like the 1,000 horsepower Shelby Mustang. Enough said there. Or, how about the Terrafugia. You know, the car conceptualized by a group of MIT-ites that flies thanks to its unique engineering and retractable wings.

A flying car. Well, it doesn't get anymore niche than that.

That said, I made sure to pound the pavement today to bring you another 400 plus photos from day two.
