Two of Europe's hottest newcomers are the BMW X1 and Range Rover Evoque. Both products represent a blossoming new entry-level premium segment, luxury compact sport-utility vehicles.

With the demand for a higher ride height, a roomy cabin that can provide flexible utility and a solid mpg rating, buyers are filling this niche faster than automakers expected.
