Volvo's one of those brands that does a couple of really great things; however, it just seems like it doesn't have a real sexy product.

I mean, the C30 is a pretty cool compact, the XC60 makes a great entry-level luxury sport-utility vehicle and the "naughty" S60 drives like a boss. While the interiors are a bit IKEA and modern, they come off a bit sterile; however, Volvo uses some seriously high quality materials. Safety is the marque's cornerstone.

But since the S60R with that spaceball shifter, the brand's lacking some serious panache. That, of course, was until Polestar came into the picture with the C30 Polestar Concept.

NOW word on the street is saying that Volvo is working with Polestar on an S60 that will rival cars like the Audi RS4, BMW M3 and Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG.

Speculation is pointing to Polestar possibly using the XC90's V8 Yamaha-sourced powerplant that was also used in the Noble M600, which produces 650 horsepower by way of two turbochargers. A Swedish publication is reporting that it could possibly have a dual-clutch transmission and a Haldex all-wheel drive system.


Officially sanctioned Volvo motorsports team and tuner, Polestar Peformance, is taking their relationship with their Gothenburg auto maker one step further with the development of a high-performance Volvo S60 production model.

According to Swedish magazine Teknikens Varld, the Polestar S60 is Volvo's answer to the BMW M3 and the Mercedes C 63 AMG super sedans. Spy photos sent in from a Teknikens Varld reader, show a heavily camouflaged vehicle with a widened track and broadened wheel arches in all four corners, plus sporty wheels that are a bit wider than the normal wheels...
