When you have the most powerful production Mustang hooked up to a rear-wheel drivetrain, you know things can get a bit tricky. That's because even though power keeps piling on, Mustangs aren't exactly known for having the most fantastic chassis to handle all that getty up.

I remember driving a 2010 GT with just over 300 horsepower and I'll tell you what, that chassis was so poor handling only that much power. Then 2011 rolled around with more power and a better set up. That was a world's difference as the vehicle actually felt controlled; however, when I got behind the wheel of the GT500 it once again just felt like it was too much for the car to handle with 550 horsepower.

Now that the ante has been upped to 662 wild stallions Ford knew it had to do something. Welcome Launch Control, ladies and gents.

The reality is that there is just an obscene amount of power that has to be put down and it isn't easy. Here's the cool thing that we haven't seen before on any launch control set up: You can manage the RPM you want the motor to hold at.

The 2013 Shelby GT500 has a sophisticated Launch Control System that takes muscle car drivability to the next level.
