The folks over at The Car Connection report that someone kindly plunked images of the next Mercedes-Benz C-Class in their inbox today, remarkable considering that the marque’s entry-level luxury sedan isn’t slated to debut until the 2007 Geneva Motor Show.

Reportedly, the sedan is set to get a sportier bent, though it will share more of its unseen bits with the company’s mid-level E-Class. The move should make it a better foil for the BMW 3-Series and upcoming Infiniti G35 replacement

TCC indicates that the base model will receive a 1.8-liter direct-injection I4, generating in the neighborhood of 150-190 horsepower. Next up is a 2.5-liter V6 generating 210 horsepower, and the top non-AMG 3.5-liter V6 should be good for 270 horsepower. Although TCC offers no such guidance, we’re guessing that only the latter engine will be available for U.S. consumption. Naturally, an AMG-fettled 5.4-liter V8 will make the scene as well, along with a 3.0-liter oil-burner
