Although the Lexus IS-F never beat the BMW M3 in Lexus' first sports car attempt, it was pretty damn close. At least in my opinion. Considering it was the marque's first attempt, I'd say it was rather impressive.

And from what we've been seeing lately, it's pretty clear Lexus isn't throwing in the towel.

That's because it not only has one special car in the pipeline, it now is pretty clear there are TWO new "F" cars in the works. The RC-F — assuming that'll go up against the M4 — and the GS-F — set to tackle cars like the Audi RS7, BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG.

Obviously, it has its work cut out for itself.

The latest spy images show the possible GS-F from its backside and it has the diagonally staggered quad exhaust tips and a large diameter set of wheels and tires. Though it's not a confirmation of a badass super sedan, it certainly has some of the characteristics.

But BEFORE we get going on the GS-F, I think there's one very important question that we have to ask to you, our tastemakers: WHAT does the GS-F NEED to have in order to BEAT the competition?

Does it need to have an amazing exterior and interior design? How much power is enough? V8? V10? Dual-clutch? Manual? An impressive zero to 60 time or is it better to have a faster 1/4 mile?

...This unbadged Lexus GS was captured somewhere in Germany, probably in a garage near the Nurburgring, being worked on and fine tuned be engineers.

Our spy photographers didn’t had too much access to the location, so the photos reveal only the rear end of the car, but judging by the new sporty bits and pieces added there, we can tell it packs some power under the hood...
