Remember that incredible Mercedes-Benz concept from years ago. You know, the four-door convertible that previewed the all-new S-Class. Dubbed the Ocean Drive, it's been dead as a door nail.
For whatever reason, Mercedes-Benz has determined that it's simply not worth pursuing — at least to our knowledge (see the video below for reference). Instead, it appears pretty clear that we will have the chance to pony up the bucks to get into an S-Class Coupe drop-top though.
Don't get me wrong, the S-Class Coupe convertible will be a great luxury vehicle that will square up against the likes of the Bentley Continental GTC; however, this is a safe move.
The reality is if Cadillac or Mercedes-Benz wanted to actually innovate and create an all-new niche they'd build a four-door rag top. Before you say "No, no!" THINK: what athlete/celebrity WOULDN'T have it in their driveway? Of course, everyone else would follow. Here's a case study for you — the Cadillac Escalade.
