Although Jaguar is planning to launch one its most important vehicles in recent memory, the XE, we're far more interested in the all-new F-Pace.

There's good reason for this:

1) The entry-level luxury sport-utility vehicle market is on FIRE right now; and,

2) Jaguar's sales number need a significant lift and we think that this offering — if it's executed right — may give the company the shot in the arm it needs.

At the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, the Jaguar Land Rover press conference I attended pre-show featured words spoken by Ian Callum. If I am honest, if you were expecting the C-X17 concept to spring into production form, it sounds like Callum was trying to cool expectations. In other words, the design team is going to move away from the C-X17 a bit and it will be a bit more diluted than originally thought.

Seen here sporting its production body for the first time, it overall boasts some similarity; however, we're a bit fearful the BIG changes will be found in the details. Time will tell.

What you may notice is that the Jaguar F-Pace appears quite a bit longer than the more compact Land Rover Range Rover Evoque. In addition, if you scope out the prototype interior you'll note that MUCH of it is lifted from the Evoque. Expect a lot of part sharing between these two.

The images confirm that, as expected, Jaguar's first production SUV – which the manufacturer is referring to as a 'sports crossover' – will share its overall design and shape with the C-X17 concept car unveiled at the Frankfurt motor show in 2013. We've previously spied test mules on the Nürburgring, but this is the first time the F-Pace has been seen on the public road.

The size and dimensions are said to be near identical to the C-X17, which is 4.72m long – 400mm longer than a Range Rover Evoque – and 1.65m tall...
