In 1996, when I was working in Thailand, my company car was a Mitsubishi Pajero with a 2.5-l turbodiesel engine and a 5-speed manual. I instantly fell in love with the car. Despite being incredibly slow, the car had personality and was immensely fun to drive. Offroad ability was also impressive. This was my first Mitsubishi (my second was a Galant back in Albany) and I came away mightily impressed.

After this model, Mitsubishi seems to have lost it with the current Pajero / Montero. Fat, underpowered (and thirsty) and a diminshed offroad capability are just some of the negative traits that the current one displays.

Now, with the Paris Auto Show coming up, pictures of the new model have been released. Even though it is virtually a facelifted version of the current one, I have to admit: DAMN, it looks fantastic. The design combines styling cues from the 1990s version as well as some from the current one. The result, a slightly retro / facelifted design that actually looks good.

Have a look at the pics!
