Earlier this month we reported on accusations hurled by Porsche towards Nissan, accusing the Japanese carmaker of falsifying the blistering Nurburgring lap time of 7m 29s recorded for the GT-R back in May. The accusations managed to reach the upper echelons of Nissan management, prompting representatives at last week’s Paris Motor Show to state emphatically that the times recorded for the GT-R around the Nurburgring were achieved "on absolutely standard tires which are available to customers in the showroom," and that any sort of slick tires were never used. With all the controversy surrounding Acura with the recent redesigns of the TSX, RL and the soon to be released TL, I was reminded of an article I had read in which Acura stated the reasoning behind changing the name of the Legend to the RL was simply about brand recognition. Acura was concerned that the value of the Legend name was becoming more powerful and recognizable than the name Acura, and as such by steering clear of names instead using letter and numbers to identify their cars, the name Acura would instantly be recognizable. Was Automobile Mag unfair in their BMW 335, Cadillac CTS, Mercedes C350 review?

A couple days ago we ran a story called 'The performance chart that has ALL BMW's competitors shaking in their boots!, where the BMW 335 was reviewed by Automobile Mag against the Cadillac CTS and Mercedes C350 and it absolutely smoked them both. But since the story ran we have been contacted by Cadillac PR and a number of other people familiar with testing methods and situation revolving this review and it’s starting to smell REAL bad… Turns out the test was not run on an even playing flaying field (The 335 and C350 were tested on dry pavement in the USA and the Caddy test was done in the rain in Germany).
