As the fourth of July draws near, Cars.com announced it has updated its American Made Index. The index lists the top 10 vehicles that are truly the most American in terms of their parts, where they're produced and their popularity with U.S. buyers, according to company executives.

"With the large increase in the number of Toyota makes and models that are being built and sold in this country, it isn't a surprise that the manufacturer now has three vehicles that made the top 10," said Patrick Olsen, Cars.com managing editor.

"I wouldn't be surprised to see more foreign makes and models on the list in the near future," he added.

Cars.com's American-Made Index highlights the cars that are built here, have the highest amount of domestic parts and are bought in the largest numbers by Americans, executives noted.

"Cars must have a domestic-parts-content rating of 75 percent or more to be considered for the list," officials reported.

"Cars.com uses the figure that appears alongside the window sticker of new cars to determine a car's domestic parts content. If a car is going to be discontinued in the near future, it was also disqualified," they continued.

General Motors had a total of four cars on the list, while Ford and Toyota each claimed three spots in the top 10.

The American Made Index includes:

1. Ford F-150 (December ranking: 1)
2. Toyota Camry (2)
3. Chevrolet Silverado (3)
4. Chevrolet Cobalt (4)
5. Ford Focus
6. Toyota Sienna (8)
7. Chevrolet Malibu, Malibu Maxx (6)
8. Pontiac G6 (9)
9. Ford Escape (10)
10. Toyota Tundra
