General Motors’ partnership with eBay has led to a significant sales boost in the domestic market through the online interface. About 2,400 orders for new cars have been received by GM’s dealers in California since the online campaign began. What’s interesting about it is that the online store hosted by eBay received 632,000 visitors.

Rob Chesney, vice president of eBay Motors, said that with 12 million individual car shoppers visiting monthly, this gives a unique insight into how people prefer to buy their cars. Chesney added that through this program, eBay is helping GM dealers to extend their physical showroom while at the same time delivering to eBay buyers the great deals and broad selection they expect from the site. In a release, GM said that 225 dealers registered for the scheme and are selling 2008, 2009 and 2010 cars, crossovers and trucks.
